Google wants a user to simply put in a search, and give the searcher a top notch website that matches the search term perfectly every time.
If you search for something, Google doesn't want the top spot to be occupied by a ten-year-old site that's not even up to date on the subject, Google wants you to find the best, most current info about what you are looking for.
So like I said before, one of the big things Google looks for is how often, the site is updated and how much the sites content changes.

This can be accommodated by simply spending lot's of time improving your sites content. Move things around, add new writings about your subject, add new pictures and new links to other sites that match up with your content.

At the text ad exchange sites you simply look at a page of headlines, pick one that interests you and you are credited once you've viewed the page. But it gets better than just that. You can also use your points to purchase site listings, and even solo email ads to the members.

Dont forget that many people misspell words when thy search the web. In fact, many webmasters buy up domains like CNNN.com just to get the misspelled hits.


So if your site is all about advertising online, it will get you more hits if you also have advetising or advrtising, advertsing, advertsing ect... that way you get all the misspelled hits which can sometimes add up to significant traffic.

To rank high in Google it is a game of "he who has the most incoming related links gets the most traffic".
You could get some links by joining forums or asking bloggers to link to you or other similar methods but you need lots of backlinks and doing it that way is very time consuming.

There are basically two types of website optimization. These are "on-page optimization" and "off-page optimization".

First lets talk about on-page optimization, meaning things we can do to your websites code that can affect your pagerank.

The first tip is to place the main keyword of you website in H1 tags and place that at the top of the front page of your website as the header. This tag tells Google what your site is all about and if all other factors are equal between two websites, the one that uses H1 header tags usually wins and goes on top.

The H1 tag sets the font size of your header rather large. If it is too big you can control the size, color and other attributes by using style tags. Place the code below somewhere between <HEAD> and </HEAD>

Also, it is best to have your best, most descriptive keywords in your page title.
At the very beginning of your websites code there should be a tag that says <head>
Put your page title right after that like this:

Now Google ignores the "and" so it is better to use the break symbol "|" which you get by holding down shift and pressing the backslash key. That symbol means "and" to the search engines. So you take up fewer characters and could then add another good keyword instead without going over the character limit Such as:

Another thing you can do is to use what are called "alt tags" after your images in the HTML code. These will display some text to the user if they have images turned off in their browser. They will also see this text instead of the image if the image does not load. But the text in the alt tags ALSO counts as keywords to Google. So if it is a picture of money on your money making website you can make an alt tag such as: <img src="http://www.mysite.com/money.jpg" alt="money making image">
This method gets you traffic in a few ways. One it will add relivence to the image in Googles eyes but it will also get you visitors who are using the Google images tool. As users surf the images they will stumble into your image and when they click on the image it will take them right to your site! So always make the most of your images. However NEVER stuff long strings of keywords into these alt tags that will get you penalized or dropped from Google all together. Just put one keyword or short keyphrase in and it works like a charm.


OK we've talked about onpage optimization now even more important is the subject of off-page optimazation. This involves getting other related websites to link to yours, in the best way possible.
These links are commonly called backlinks. Why do you need backlinks?
Because Google looks at how many other websites have a link on them that points to your site. They consider each of these links a "internet popularity vote" of sorts and the more links pointing to your site, the higher your site will be listed in the search engine results page. (commonly referred to as "serps" for short).
Now even though it is a "he who has the most backlinks wins the top spot" situation, Google also has an adjustment for the relevency and quality of the backlink used. If "site A" has one hundred backlinks that are totally unrelated to site A's content, and "site B" has two very related backlinks, "site B" can often take that top spot. So you should always try to find related backlinks for the best results.

For best results the link coming from their site needs to be using your best keyword or keyphrase as the anchor text. Anchor text is simply the text that a person clicks on to go to your site. For example I have a site that lists free advertising sites so when a site links to me, it is best if they use that for the anchor text like this: free advertising sites.

The very best way to aquire these links is to create a site that is so interesting and special that other website owners put a link to your site for their readers without you asking or paying them to do so.
The act of adding useful content for the intent of getting one way links is sometimes called link baiting or link bait. Webmasters often offer useful online web tools to do this such as a free search engine submitter or a do-follow blog finding tool. It gets people bookmarking, coming back, and adding a link on their site for their readers to use. You can use the do-follow blog finding tool to find what are called "do-follow" blogs. These are sites that do not use the no-follow tag in their website code. ( a tag they tells the search engine not to pass any pagerank influence from site A to site B.) Once you've found a blog using the tool, then post a comment on the blog using a link back to your site. When leaving your comment remember to use the anchor text that you want to rank in the search engines for. Sometimes your site illistrates a point that a fellow blogger was making or a site owner just thinks that his or her readers will find your site interesting or usefull, so they will put a link to your site in the article. Links aquired this way are called "natural links" or "organic links" and are considered by Google to be the best, relavent links and passes high influence on the the sites the natural links are pointing to. But their are other ways to get backlinks, its just that three good natural links can get you just as much serp rank as a handfull of the other types will.

How can you create these backlinks yourself?
First you can set up a link exchange directory on your website. This is a special directory system where other website owners can add their link in exchange for a link to your site from theirs. The easiest free way is to use Linkmachine link exchange software.

You can also do a search for the words: "post ad" and get tons of directory sites where you can post for free if you put a link to their directory on your site. (or you could use SEO Elite to submit to alot of directories in a very short amount of time and automate most of the process.)

You can also go to a good article submission site. I use iSnare.com and it works great. I also use articlesubmissionservice.com which is also a great place to submit articles. Just create a free account there and write an article that tells all about your subject. Make it nice and long with discriptive content that explains what your site is all about. Include a link to your website at the end of the article.
When you write your author bio information, you can add a link there too so I add my website at the end of the article and I put my Squidoo lens addy in the author bio.
Now submit the article to their database and if you want you can choose to pay a small fee one time and they will redistribute the article to thousands of other aticle sites and directories accross the internet. It will take a little time for your article to spread around but slowly it will start improving your traffic. You can also join forums and put a link in your signature. Also you can create free websites at several places besides Squidoo and link those all together. This may seem like alot of work and it is, so I use a really really cool free program called Linkmachine to find link partners and manage my backlinks. It is my favorite program of its kind.
Get all this done and in a few months you can own top keyword phrases that will bring you high quality traffic. This will be people who were searching for exactly what you are offering which is gets far more signups and sales than any advertising service will.

Orange-Leads is a fairly new site with a very easy new way to get free leads.
This is not a trial, or teaser period there is no cost ever.
All you do is sign up for free and press the "get a lead" button. Then you'll see their phone number as well as lots of other information about the biz-op lead. Some of the leads are surveyed leads that have extra info such as best time to call, amount willing to spend ect.

When you join Orange-Leads you do not become a lead in their system. You do not enter a phone number for yourself. So this is not just a site where everyone who joins becomes a lead for the system, they actually feed leads into the site to give away to the members. There are some advertisements on the site but no annoying pop-ups or fly-ins.

If you read around in the S.E.O. forums you'll see countless webmasters telling their stories of a sudden drop in their keyword rankings. One day their site is number 1 for their best keyword and the next gone or on page 300.
This is believed to be a filter placed by Google to dampen your traffic possibly as some form of punishment for what it considers bad behavior.
Little is know about the specific cause that triggers the sandbox but once your site is in it, getting out can be a challenge. There are a few different theories on how this works.

The top theory is that Google keeps track of the age of your incoming links. So new inbound links that you just created dont seem to have as much weight when your in the sandbox. However, in a few months those links can age properly so that you begin to crawl out of the sandbox slowly.

So the best defense against the sandbox is to keep a slow steady link building campaign going, continuously adding more links from other sites. In time those links will "mature" and Google will let you out in a few months time. Usually two to six months.

Another thing you can do that seems to help is stop trying to get your rank back on a certain keyword. Often you can rank number 1 for a new keyword or keyphrase while still failing at the old keyword that you once dominated. So if you lost rank on your best keyword, start focusing some time on also optimising for a different keyword or phrase. You can do this by changing the anchor text that the inbound link is using. Link directories work good for this because you can enter whatever you want for the "site title" which becomes the anchor text for your link.

So in summary, Keep building your links, avoid and black hat tricks that attempt to eploit the search engines weaknesses, update your site often, and their IS life after the sandbox!

The next type of free advertising sites is the safelist. A safelist is a group of people, who agree to send and receive email advertisements to each other with no fear of spam complaints hence the term "safelist". Hurculist is a top notch safelist that brings good results for free. You need two emails to set up a safelist account. Gmail works the best and hotmail the worst. In fact do not try to set up any safelist account with a hotmail address because Hotmail has mail filters that think everything on earth is spam. Safelists are a way to get free advertising that works.

There are many things you can do to get exposure. The first is the traffic exchange. These are free advertising sites where you view other sites in exchange for having the other members view your advertisement. There are manual exchanges and autosurf types. Manual means you click manually to see the website and the autosurf type goes from site to site automatically. The auto surfs are generally not the best place to advertise because people can leave their screen and are not seeing your site.

To determine which traffic exchanges work the best there's a site called Traffichoopla that rates Their effectiveness.
The best traffic exchanges have a 1 to 1 surf ratio meaning you get 1 credit for viewing 1 site.
The best ones also have good cheat proof scripts where you must click on the correct button among a group of different shaped or colored buttons, some even require you to correctly answer a question before moving to the next site. Having your links in as many of these traffic exchanges as possible will get you some exposure.
You will also need other methods. Next is what are called Safelists. These are groups of advertisers gathered together at one site, to email each other Their ads without fear of spam complaints. Sites like These can be helpful but you'll always need more sources. In short, traffic exchanges and safe lists are helpful but you cannot just count on those two things to get traffic.
You also might try free online classified ads these are pretty self-explanatory and can be found easily online. One of the more effective methods is submitting articles on a subject at a free article submission site.
You just write an article in your own words about your product or service and they allow you to have a link in your signature at the bottom of your article. These work because search engines like the fresh content found in the articles.
And the final, best, easiest way I've found to get good exposure is to build a free Squidoo Lens like the one you are reading from right now! A new Squidoo page will get listed in Google Fast!
