Internet Marketing Monster
The idea behind this lens is to help new and prospective marketers learn more about Internet Marketing, SEM, SEO, Social Media and PPC. There is a lot of great information out there on the web if you know where to look. Below I have put together blogs, tools and websites that I use to learn more about the ever evolving worlds of Search Marketing and Internet Marketing.
I have other specialized lenses too! Learn about Reputation Management, setting up an Adwords account, items prohibited from Adwords, or chime in on my PPC vs. SEO debate!
My company, Systems & Marketing Solutions, is an Internet Marketing firm located on the Central Coast of California that specializes in Google Adwords.

My Favorite Blogs and Resources
- Sphinn.com is a Digg style site for SEO's and Internet Marketers. There are a lot of good articles to learn from that are written by some of the biggest and smallest names in the industry!
- SEOmoz is a popular SEO blog that also has forums and great free information resources available. Check out their Beginner's Guide to SEO - BTW they are rewriting it right now.
- Aaron Wall's SEO Blog serves up SEO tips and a mix of personal opinion.
- SearchEngineLand.com
is a good source for all the latest search engine news. - Graywolf's SEO Blog ventures out into the ever expanding world of social media. A good place to find out about new sites.
- FreelanceSwitch, slightly off topic, but covers topics relevant most of us in the field because we're predominantly outsourced marketers.
- Matt Cutts is a blogger and a Google employee. Everyonce and a while he offers up interesting inside info on how Google works.
- Other Blogs I Suggest You Check Out
- Vanessa Fox, former Googler
- Search Engine Journal
- 10e20's Blog
- aimClear - Marty Weintraub
- PPCThink - Rose Sylvia
- Techipedia - Tamar Weinberg
- Top Rank Blog
- Blue Hat SEO
- QuickSprout.com - Neil Patel
- HamletBatista.com
- EvilGreenMonkey.com - Rob Kerry
- DoshDosh.com - Maki
SEM/SEO Tools
- Google Analytics is a good free analytics program that gives you access to lots of information about your site. I'll admit Google Analytics isn't perfect, but it's consistent in its incorrectness. I can be added to your site by dropping a few lines of code into your HTML
- CrazyEgg.com is an analytic supplement. You insert one line of javascript into your HTML and it will track clicks on you page and do cool stuff like create a heat map of activity. It gives you a very easy to process vision of how people interact with your web site. I highly recommend getting the free trial and checking it out!
- Click Density is another Heat Mapping analytics supplement. I tested Click density on my own site along side CrazyEgg.com, and both are good but personally I prefer CrazyEgg much more. Plus the free trial on Click Density is for only one page not 4 like CrazyEgg
- RobotReplay is a tool that actually records user sessions for you to watch later. It's free and easy to implement. I think it's pretty cool, but it had mixed results for me. I think it is worthwhile as a kind of web novelty, but I wouldn't base any big decisions on it.
- Dogpile Search Spy shows real searches as they occur. It's hypnotic really. A good diversion for when you're having a hard time coming up with keywords.
- SEO-Browser.com will show you your site the way a search engine sees it.
- The Google Adwords Keyword Tool that you find inside of Adwords is also available on the outside for those of you without an account. The tool is helpful, but remember you need to filter down whatever they give you to what is RELEVANT to your business.
- The Top 10 Analysis SEO Tool is a neat tool that lets you put in your target url and the keyword phrase you're trying to rank for and then it will give a breakdown of where you are in Google vs. the Top 10 plus other stats like number of backlinks and domain age.
- SEO for Firefox is a FireFox plugin that will give you additional information in a Google or Yahoo search underneath each result. It give info like Page Rank, links, Age, del.icio.us bookmarks, Technorati Authority and more. Very handy in doing some research at a glance.
Social Media Sites
Digg.com is my favorite social submission site, and it's highly addictive. It's an art form to make it on to their front page, but if you do the traffic can be server crushing.
Reddit.com is another social submission site that allows you to vote up or down a story.- Propeller.com is honestly pretty weak. But I think it has potential and is something to watch just in case.
- Popurls.com is a cool site that brings together all the top headlines from the biggest social media sites.
del.icio.us is another one of those sites that I can't live without. It's a Firefox browser plug in that lets you bookmark websites from anywhere and then pull up your favorites online from any computer. Very cool, especially if you travel or have a few computers.- StumbleUpon can be added as a browser tool bar, and pushing the stumble button sends you to a random website that they think you might like. It's a great way to kill some time.
- CraigsList is a free online classifieds website with a focus on localized markets. Craigslist used correctly can create good, converting traffic to your web site... or help you sell an old TV, you know whatever.
- Myspace is a monster in the Social Networking arena. Setting up a profile is easy, and you can use a Myspace profile to sneak up towards the top of Google Search results. Visit my Myspace at www.myspace.com/adwords_expert
- FaceBook has risen above the rest of the new Social Networking sites to become the biggest deal of 2007. You can find me there listed under Rob Dumouchel.
- LinkedIn is kind of like Myspace for adults. Look for some changes soon as they try to pick up some FaceBook-esque features. See my LinkedIn profile here

- SocialMediaDaily.com is a super resource put together by Michelle MacPhearson that covers tons of stuff on how to use social media.
- Slashdot.org tech biased social submission site.

- Very good resource site you have on Internet Marketing. Great stuff! I've given you a 5-star rating for it. I've just created a lens on Google Adwords Tips - where I provide tips on how to turn losses into profits in their Adwords campaigns. You may want to consider adding your lens to my Internet Marketing directory which I've created and give you more traffic to your lens. Hope to see you there! :)

- I love how you have the Social Media Site links with additional captions pertaining to why each site is so great and what it offers users rather than just having a long list of links for browsers to sift through until they find what they are looking for. Very nice!
