What Is Aerobic Exercise
The word aerobic means "in the presence of oxygen". Aerobic is used to describe this type of exercise because it increases breathing and circulation to oxygenate tissues of your body.
There are many ways in which you can engage in aerobic exercise. Some of the more popular examples of aerobic exercise are walking, dance, jogging, skating, swimming and bicycling. It is important to note that whatever activity you do that produces the desired result of increased heart and breathing rates is considered aerobic exercise. The body experiences many benefits from aerobic exercise. So why not get started with a little aerobic exercise today.
Examples of Aerobic Exercise
Many of the most popular types of aerobic exercises.
1. Aerobic Dance - This is one of the most popular examples of aerobic exercise. It is very popular because it is a lot of fun and is set to music. You do not get into a fixed routine with dance the way you may with other forms of aerobics exercise. You won't need to make a huge investment to get started in aerobic dance. Good shoes, good music, a little space to workout in and maybe an aerobic dance video or dvd. You can start with low impact, high impact and work into step aerobics if you wish. Definitly a great way to exercise.
2. Walking for Fitness - This is another popular choice for aerobic exercise. You do not need a bunch of equipment to get started although you may want to get a treadmill at some point. It is important to have good shoes, some workout clothes and a place to walk. This is popular with many who want to exercise with a friend. Great conversation and the company of a friend can make exercise much more enjoyable.
3. Running or Jogging - This is another of the more popular methods for aerobic exercise. Running can be hard on your body, so it is important to be in a good physical condition for running prior to starting. Not much is need other than good running shoes, a place to run and possibly some good music to make it more enjoyable. You may also want to run with a friend for motivation and a challenge.
4. Swimming - This is one of the best types of aerobic exercise. You will of course need a place to swim, so an investment in a health club with a swimming pool is important. The equipment is minimal. You will need a bathing suit for sure. You may also want goggles and a swim cap. Swimming may not be an option for everyone since not everyone has access to an indoor pool or may be able to afford a health club membership. Swim when you can just to vary your aerobic routines.
There are many other examples of aerobic exercise. Be creative with your exercise routines so that they do not become, well "routine". Vary the activities you participate in if you are becoming bored or change up the routine. If you are dancing then buy a different dvd or new music or even join a dance studio to learn different styles of dance. Above all remember that you do not need to make huge investments to participate in aerobic exercise, simply doing something that will increase your heart rate and breathing for a period of time will do the trick.

Visit your family doctor - Get a physical and health check up. Discuss with your doctor that you are beginning an aerobics exercise program and ask what would be best for your current level of fitness.
Visit a local gym or health club - Get an evaluation from a personal trainer. They have tests they can put you through to evaluate your level of fitness and help suggest exercise programs that will benefit you.
Read health and fitness books - There are many great books that can help you evaluate your level of fitness and help you choose the best aerobics exercise program for you.
Think about what you like to do - This is very important. Choose something that you will enjoy doing. I understand that what really helps with the weight-loss in aerobic exercise is simply the breathing and that the exercise is basically to encourage the breathing. Supposedly, you'll do just as well WITHOUT the exercise (in terms of burning calories)--BUT, that's way too boring for most people. :P

- You will most definitely not do just as well without the exercise. As the lens creator said, aerobic exercise is intended to increase heart rate and breathing rate. In order for the heart to beat faster and for the chest to expand more rapidly the energy demand of muscle will increase. calories are energy, so increased demand = increased calorie requirements. While just the breathing will increase energy demand, aerobic exercise (i.e. walking) is design to increase your HR max to 60-80% of your HR max. It is not possible to attain this level with breathing alone.
After writing all that I feel that I was a complete tool in doing so, but I put to much effort into it to delete it. I didn't mean to slander you, just wanted to present facts.

- Some really nice ideas. Personally I like a good mixture of aerobic exercise, however, my favourite way is long-distance running, elliptical trainer and boxing. I could include kayaking in there somewhere but I see this more as fun than serious training...

- Expect to build your aerobic base over a 6 to 8 week time frame, possibly longer if you've been inactive for a while. Plan to gradually challenge yourself so you can maintain your target heart rate for a longer period of time. Remember, the longer you work out at your target zone, the more fat you'll burn.

- Aerobic exercise is not only good in reducing weight, I can say that it is good as stress reliever. I've tried an aerobic exercise with my friends, and we really reduced weight in 3 months. But my problem is, my bust got smaller too. I'm planning to go to Los Angeles. Breast augmentation, also known as (Los Angeles) breast implants is very popular among women who have smaller bust. My friends also told me that in LA, I can easily find a professional surgeon. I hope, I could find a perfect date to set an appointment with a trusted surgeon.
