Build a List

Most affiliate marketers do not promote just one product. Over time they promote dozens, maybe hundreds of different products. Where do they find the products to promote? ClickBank.com is a great source of information products and software that you can sell. Other popular sources are large sites like Amazon.com or individual marketers that have their own affiliate program.

Having a mailing list of potential prospects that have agreed to receive an email message from you makes your job much easier. If you don't already have a mailing list you should start building one today.

For your mailing list I recommend a quality autoresponder service like AWEBER

A good strategy is to direct visitors to a pre-sale page where you try to get them to give you their email address in exchange for some information. This could be an e-course or an e-book or even a downoadable audio or video. Using the autoresponder service like AWEBER makes capturing customer information easy.

Remember, your goal is NOT to spam your subscribers with offer after offer. It should be to build a relationship with your potential customers.

Your Blog

A blog is a website (webpage) with an RSS feed on it. There are many places to get a free blog such as Blogger.com, Wordpress.com and even social networking sites like MySpace.

If you have your own domain I recommend you set up a WordPress blog using a free, open source blogging script from WordPress.org. The reason I like Wordpress is because there are many useful plugins available that can help you get traffic.

The reason for a blog is that it is a very easy way to publish online. Your blog can be a great place to write reviews and talk about the products you are promoting. There are other advantages to using a blog that will become apparent later.

Technorati!

The third step in my affiliate traffic system is to use the blog search site Technorati.

Technorati is one of my favorite websites for getting news and keeping up with my favorite blogs. I have my browser's home page set to Technorati so that I see what new posts have been made at the blogs I follow.

Technorati is a great place to do market research and can be used to get traffic to your blog. To use it get traffic you will need to open a free account at Technorati and then claim your blog there. This will add your blog to the searches and gives you an easy way to let the world know when your blog has been updated. To do this you have Technorati 'ping' the blog.

Technorati also makes use of TAGS. Tags are really keywords that you give to your blog, and blogposts. For example, if you blog about a natural weight loss product that you are promoting, you could tag the blog post with words like 'weight loss', 'diet', etc. So now when other people are searching for information on that subject they may find your posts.

Technorati is a powerful tool and there is much I have not told you, but I hope I have motivated you to begin using it.

After you make a post to your blog you should submit the post to search engines and blog directories. The easiest way to do this is to go to Ping-o-matic and submit the blog.
