Best Affiliate Marketing Programs?

Okay, I know what you're thinking. "Oh great, ANOTHER affiliate marketing site where you tell me what's great about this program and that it's going to make me TONS of money."

Well I'm not. I am your average person with limited experience to Affiliate Marketing. All I can offer you here is what I have learned based on my experience with Affiliate Marketing. And the question that has been burning in your mind? How much money do I make with Affilate Programs?

This page is about the things I am doing right now to make money from my Squidoo Lenses, Blog and Forums. It's a look into my personal journey in learning what works and what doesn't. I am going to give you an honest opinion of the programs I have joined. What works for some people may or may not work for you. It just depends on what your site is about and what your goals are. Is it worth it to you? Is it worth your time?

LinkShare

LinkShare Referral Prg - default banner

This was the first Affiliate Program I ever joined. I joined because I was the Adminstrator of a website and forum called WhippetTalk and needed to offset the cost of the website and software/licensing of the forums. I thought I would be great to offer my members links to stores where they already shop for pet supplies and at the same time, help the board with commissions from those purchases. I signed up and joined programs such as Drs. Foster and Smith, PetSmart, Live Aquaria, 1-800-PetMeds and more.

I like the interface with LinkShare and how easy it is to make product specific link as well as the general banners and such. I use the links on my personal websites, blogs, forums and here at Squidoo. The quality of the Merchants are great in that they are highly recognized by the general public. I recommend this Affiliate Program highly. It's one of my favorites.

Share A Sale

The next Affiliate Program I joined was Shareasale.com. It looked promising and has a few Merchants that interested me that I couldn't find on LinkShare. I joined to add more shopping opportunites for my membership at WhippetTalk with merchants such as: Entirely Pets, PetNetDirect and Jake's Dog House.

I'm not as happy with Share A Sale as I am with LinkShare. But I do make a few sales here and there with them. A few merchants I signed up with have left the program and I end up having to remove links.

The interface is not as easy for specific products links. I find I spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to get the kinds of links I want. Many merchants just off banner and text links. Linking to a specific product is a little tricker and you have to change the banner code and image in the HTML to make it work.

While not my first choice of Affiliate Programs, I still like them and I my opinion is I have nothing to lose by signing up with them.

AllPosters.com

Webmasters Make $$$
Webmasters Make $$$

When I joined Squidoo, I shortly signed up with AllPosters.com. Why? So that I can use some really great pictures on my lenses. AllPosters.com lets you use high quality color images in your websites, blogs and lenses with a link to them. And as an affiliate, you get paid when someone buys a product from them. It's a win, win situation. If you never sell a single item, you at least got to use some really great images on your site. And you can sell concert t-shirts, posters and more with them.

Here are a few examples of the quality of images you can use:

Grand Teton National Park

Buy at AllPosters.com

Georgie

Buy at AllPosters.com

Penguins Diving Off Iceberg

Buy at AllPosters.com

The AllPosters.com Affiliates Program is a great way to make money with your website. Link to AllPosters.com and earn 25%-30% of every purchase made by your site visitors at their website. If the visitor decides to purchase within 10 days of their last visit from your website, you'll still earn commission on the sale! You can link to AllPosters.com from a selection of over hundreds of thousands poster and art print images as well as poster stores and mini stores. They have posters related to just about everything (e.g. movies, music, sports, art, animals) so no matter what the content of your site is, you will find images that are a good fit. It's easy to sign-up, track your sales, and build links because the site generates all the HTML code for you.

The Pepperjam Network

PJN Promo

Pepperjam hit Squidoo circles with a lot of hype. I jumped on the bandwagon hoping to see something that would help me with affiliate sales. Something better than the rest. I read stories and blogs by prominent Squidoo lensmasters who said this network has generated a lot of revenue for them. And Pepperjam advertises that it's "revolutionary."

Affiliates

Yes, they have some big and well known merchants such as Jelly Belly, Cartoon Network, eBay and more. I am still learning my way around this program. I am not really pleased so far. All I have been able to do is use banner links to the merchants and not link to specific products. I don't find banners as effective. What's different about Pepperjam? So far, I'm not really sure. Perhaps someone who uses them and find them to be lucrative can drop me a line and clue me in. But as I have said before with other Affliate Programs, why not? I have nothing to lose.

Thanks for the objective info. I've been thinking about getting involved in affiliate marketing, but have been sceptical because there is so much hype and spamming sounding promotions everywhere. You've given me some starting points here so, again, thanks.

Great lens. Since I'm just starting out this is a great introduction and review to affiliate marketing. So far I've only used Amazon so now I can think about trying something else. Thanks, 5 stars! I would love to have you stop by my Stress Reduction Simplified lens if you get a chance- and would love to have your blessings if you like it... thanks!
