I'll start this with wikipedia, that well known and trusted online dictionary.Wikipedia provides a very seperate distinction between real affiliate marketing and spam and you can't help but notice the relationship with retail environments. Affiliate marketers point you in the direction of reliable, trustworthy online merchants.

Well, not really. Bad affiliate marketing is spam, but that's unsustainable from a business perspective, especially in todays world of referrals.

Some people will spam, it's the way of the world. Clued up consumers generally have cash to spend (well, more of it than gullible consumers) so good, ethical affiliate marketers have more access to smarter, wealthier clients. That's a hard choice to make isn't it? Unsustainable poorer customers or sustainable wealthy ones...

So no, it's not spam.

Affiliate marketing is an honest way to make a living
