Brown's Hole
Near Chico California
Upper hole has a 6 foot stairstep fall, the pool is 100 feet long, but only 20 feet wide, with irregular sides and bottom. One main the problem is a crappy road, you'll need a truck or a 4 wheel drive.
The lower hole is about 80 yards long and has a rope swing which drops you at 10 feet deep. There are 4 sand beaches towards the downstream side. Easiest way to get to them is by swiming, which might present a problem for a few.
It's probably the only place on Big Chico that doesn't swarm with college students from Chico State on the weekends. There's usually about 10 or so people on the weekends, but it can be as high as 40.
It's a lava flow 18 million years old and full of pockets both big and small. At Bear Hole there tunnels you can swim through. There's also a peace sign arranged with stones as a memorial.

McCloud Falls
Shasta National Forest
The upper fall is 92 feet high, that comes down in 2 steps to a large round hole about 100 feet in diameter.
The middle fall goes into an oval pool filled with dark water, and it has 2 nice rocks to dive from. Water is around mid 60's in the summer. The boulders aren't big enough to lay on, but you may sit on them even though they're not flat.
The lower fall you drive up to, and usually filled with people, privacy is only slightly better at the 2 upper falls.
