How Do Stun Guns Work?
A stun gun requires you to have physical contact with a person. In order to deliver an electrical charge, you have to place the probes against the assailant. It will then deliver the electrical charge. You'll need to hold it there from 1-5 seconds in order to debilitate the assailant.
Stun guns work by sending an electrical impulse into the body of the attacker. That impulse interferes with the messages the brain is sending to the muscles. They can cause the target to become confused, lose muscle control, and become disoriented - in other words, stunned.
They are safe to use and don't have any long-term side effects. They're perfect for keeping an assailant from attacking you and giving you time to get away. They're also legal in most states to be carried without a permit or a license. They're actually not considered a true weapon.
A stun gun can be valuable tools in your arsenal of personal protection equipment. It's important to make sure you know the proper way to use it once you begin to carry it with you.

How to Use Stun Guns for Personal Protection
SPSafetyCenter.com
Here you'll find some general directions, but it's important to read the directions that come with your particular make and model.
You may also want to contact the store you bought the stun gun from to get personalized instructions.
The first thing you need to know is that you should never touch the probes or get within 2 inches of them. Otherwise you may be the one to receive some electrical impulses.
When you first get your stun gun, you'll need to follow the manufacturer instructions to perform a test fire. This ensures that the device is working properly and helps you to learn the exact procedure for using it.
You should keep your stun gun ready if you're out walking in your neighborhood or walking from a store to your car - anywhere you feel you could be in danger. There are three zones on the assailant you'll want to target if you should ever need to use your stun gun.
The best places to use your stun gun are at the top of the shoulders, the top of the hip, or below the ribs. These are areas where there are a lot of nerves that can deliver the electrical signal to the rest of the body. When you target these areas first, you'll be more likely to have your attacker drop to the ground quickly so you can make your escape.
Hold the stun gun on the body for anywhere from 1-5 seconds. As soon as your assailant is immobilized, you can run to get help or just escape. Don't stick around and wait for the target to regain consciousness.
If you have any questions about how to use your stun gun once you've purchased it, you should make sure to call the customer support or the store you bought it from to get extra help for your specific questions.

There Are Different Types of Electroshock Personal Safety Gear:
An electroshock weapon is an incapacitant weapon used for subduing a person by administering electric shock aimed at disrupting superficial muscle functions.
One type is a conductive energy device (CED), an electroshock gun popularly known by the brand name "Taser", which fires projectiles that administer the shock through a thin, flexible wire.
Other electroshock weapons such as stun guns, stun batons, and electroshock belts administer an electric shock by direct contact.
Electroshock weapon technology uses a temporary high-voltage low-current electrical discharge to override the body's muscle-triggering mechanisms.
The recipient is immobilized via two metal probes connected via metal wires to the electroshock device. The recipient feels pain, and can be momentarily paralyzed while an electric current is being applied. It is reported that applying electroshock devices to more sensitive parts of the body is even more painful.
