Luxury safari adventures in africa

Africa Exclusive is a luxury safari tour operator specialising in exclusive tailor-made safari holidays to Africa and the Indian Ocean. Africa Exclusive was founded in 1990 by John Burdett and Warwick Hoffman who, together with Laura Burdett and John Harvey, have over 50 years of travel experience between them. Africa Exclusive has arranged thousands of luxury safari holidays over the years and the majority of our client base are repeat clients and referrals. Our growth has been steady and gradual and while we provide the same financial peace of mind and industry presence that one would expect from a large tour operator, our ethos is still very much focussed on personalised service and attention to detail you would expect from a smaller family owned business.

We have established excellent working relationships with our capable ground agents who are all experts in their particular fields. Our aim is to achieve excellence in every aspect of managing your dream safari holiday and our attention to detail will ensure that your holiday runs like clockwork from start to finish.

All of our highly experienced staff have the opportunity to travel to the various camps, hotels and lodges on a regular basis. This ensures that they are able to meet the management and staff of these establishments and obtain first hand experience of what they have to offer in terms of activities, wildlife, flora, cuisine and facilities. Even when you are in the remotest of locations you are guaranteed five star luxury, service and cuisine equal to the most exclusive and fashionable of hotels and restaurants in London, Paris or New York, with the added benefit of being able to dine under the brightest of stars around an open fire with the sounds and scents of the African bush or the vast expanse of the calm, unspoilt Indian Ocean.

Tortilis Camp in Kenya, Jao Camp and Baines Camp in Botswana, Okonjima Bush Camp and Kulala Desert Lodge in Namibia, Chiawa Camp and Chamilandu Bushcamp in Zambia, Leopard Hills and Camp Jabulani in South Africa are just a few of the multi award winning camps with whom we have forged relationships with over the years. The focus of these camps is very much on eco-tourism with the emphasis on conservation and giving back to the communities in which they operate.

We also support various charities such as Send a Cow which supplies communities in Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia with livestock and agricultural knowledge. They focus on the most vulnerable in each society such as women, children and orphans, helping them to develop a self sufficient existence. We donate a percentage of each booking we administer to this charity.

We are also fully bonded through the Civil Aviation Authority's ATOL scheme (ATOL 2883), the UK's biggest financial protection scheme.

Whatever your interests are, the vast and vibrant continent of Africa and the Indian Ocean will keep you coming back for more, time and time again, as you develop an insatiable appetite for this beautiful and mysterious place.

Wildlife calender - September

Whats happening in Botswana and Zambia in September?

The climate has changed and winter is all but gone. Night temperatures rise rapidly within the month and by month end the averages reach 15°C plus and day temperatures soar well in the 30's°C. The sun shines, the skies are clear and it is really dry. Unbelievably the elephant concentrate in still greater numbers as do the buffalo keeping the predators busy as the season takes it's toll on the prey species - a time of plenty for the lions. The colours explode as the carmine bee eaters return from their winter grounds and the other migrants begin to arrive. The water levels have slowly started to drop as the waters from Angola have completed their trek. The fish begin to get active and some trees start to get the first green shoots - fed by the flood waters and temperatures and not by any rain as it is still some 6 weeks to the first rains.
