Afro Samurai is about an Afro Samurai seeking revenge for the death of his father. He is really quiet and quite the stoic. He has an imaginary antithesis that goes by the name of Ninja Ninja. Ninja Ninja provides a lot on this game - including serving as aguide if you are unsure of where to go to. He also provides obscenity and humor in this game. He's very talkative, so you might want to chatter with him often. If you're lost, you can call him out and he'll appear on the direction in which you should go. Call for him often and he'll express his anger to you like "Hey I ain't your GPS".
Afro Samurai is a button mashing game. You'll often find yourself mashing buttons to execute different combos. Each combo has elegant visuals that will definitely stun you. There are different combos that you can unlock through the course of the game. Some of the combos are suitably named such as Hardwood Thrust, Pimp Hand, Oh That Hurt, "Where's my Money" and Dayam that really hurt.
You can go to focus mode with Afro Samurai, which lets him charge up his katana so that he can slice his enemies with deadly accuracy. A line will then appear to show where you might want to slice your enemy - you can cut off a limb, cut them vertically in half, or slice them down. Amidst the deadly battle, you can perform other tricks such as running wall jumps. The game is fairly easy; the places to go through are quite linear and straightforward. The game is easy overall, but because of the gore, there has to be an age restriction involved.
One great feature of the game is how to know the characters' health. You'll know how long you'll last by looking at your clothes. The amount of blood that stains your clothing determines your health, and the same thing goes for your enemies. Also, you'll hear a sound gushing blood that indicates that you have done well in killing an enemy. In this game, the more blood you spill the better. There is a statistics from the main menu that records the gallons of blood you have spilled. Overall, Afro Samurai is a great game graphics-wise. While the difficulty level is rather low, you can forget about that and enjoy slashing your way through the enemies. Afro Samurai's For Sale next week, so if you want to play it, then you better get ready.
