The Addams Family (1991)
This is an absolutely brilliant camp classic. The characters are charming and memorable, especially the understated Morticia, the swashbuckling Gomez, the stone-faced Wednesday and the villain, Dr Greta Penterschloss. The double entendres and ironic lines have since become part of the vocab of lovers of the Addams Family movies. Addams Family Values (1993)
Morticia and Gomez are played very well. Gomez is still contagiously energetic and Morticia continues to add her dark comedy that just seem to emit from her character without words. Christina Ricci, slightly older than in the first movie, just completely exemplifies Wednesday basically stealing the show. Pugsly is Pugsly. Not a standout, but perfectly played. I am also a huge Christopher Lloyd fan and seeing him again as Fester was wonderful. Carol Kane should have been Grandma in the first movi...0 points

Faring a little better than Edward Herrmann, but still no Fred Gwynne. Then again who ever could be? Sam MacMurray turns out a heartwarming childlike performance as he tries to bring the meaning and spirit of Christmas to his family. Especially Eddie. This one's worth picking up.

The Munsters: Two-Movie Fright Fest - (Franchise Collection) - (Munster, Go Home! & The Munsters' Revenge)
I've loved "The Munsters" since it's CBS premiere in 1964. I have every episode on 16mm as well as on DVD. I even have a 16mm print of "Munster, Go Home" in IB Technicolor! NOTHING compares to Universal's crisp, new transfer! Watching the film in in its widescreen 16x9 theatrical aspect ratio was cool enough. But the colors! WOW! Herman is REALLY GREEN. Eddie's costume is a deep PURPLE. Lily's cheeks are BLUE. The clarity. The focus. Awesome! Even the sound is crisp and clear. When compared side-by-side to the earlier Good Times DVD, the visual difference is shocking. The Good Times transfer is muddy, contasty and just plain crumby by comparison.

So why purchase this disc? Well, in addition to the really terriffic documentaries (originally produced by for A&E's Emmy Award-winning Biography series), Image has added LOTS of great bonus material, all digitally remastered from original 16mm and 35mm elements! In addition to two (2) extremely rare versions of the original 1964 Presentation entitled, "My Fair Munster" (which are, by the way, different from the one Universal released as VAM on the Season One disc), there are vintage TV spots, a cast commercial for Cheerios, a promo for the Munsters' 1965 TV Special at Marineland, "Munster, Go Home" trailers and TV spots, vintage Universal Studios newsreels and even a PSA featuring Fred Gwynne as Herman Munster for a US Government youth program -- to name just a few! But wait! There's MORE! As if nearly five full hours of content were not enough, Image added an hour of excerpts from cast interviews with Al Lewis, Yvonne DeCarlo, Butch Patrick and all three original Marilyns (Beverley Owen, Pat Priest and Debbie Watson)! Look, if you're NOT a Munsters fan, there's no reason to buy this DVD (or even read this review, for that matter). But if you ARE a Munsters fan, you MUST add this well produced item to your collection.
