Apple iPad Fad...Accessories:Cases:News:and MORE!

The iPad's attention grabbing design

Apple recently released the highly anticipated iPad tablet computer to much fanfare and consumer excitement. The Apple iPad is one of the hottest gadgets on the market, thanks to an intuitive computing interface and a stunning design. Much of the buzz and anticipation can be largely attributed to Apple's continued effort to create eye-catching, drool worthy consumer devices. Clean lines and a chiseled aluminum backing give the iPad a sleek and modern look and feel. Many customers value the iPad's gorgeous appearance, and are adamant on keeping their new device in pristine condition.

Opera Mini for the iPad

There will finally be an Opera Mini of the iPad, and it may just be one of those apps which will help draw people into it. Opera Mini has been one of the most successful web browsing apps for smartphones ever made. They have debuted already on Android and Blackberry, and now it is finally time for it to hit the iPad. If you are skeptical of this web browser you can easily check it out on the Opera website. They will be announcing not only the coming of Opera Mini to the iPad, but also of the updates for other Opera Mini users at the Mobile World Conference. I think this will be a nice change from the currently loaded Safari web browser on the iPad, even if Safari is one of the best mobile web browsers.

No Surprise at All

We have heard the rumors and seen the evidence for a camera on the new iPad, but now there is even more solid proof of it. In the iOS beta 4.3 for the iPad it revealed a Camera App as well as a Face Time App. I don't know if there is any evidence which would convince us more of the impending camera on the iPad 2. It will likely be the same camera as the iPhone 4, which is already in itself very nice. I personally like this add on since people want to take pictures at the most random of times and then nowadays people have one of two things with them, their cell phone or some form of handheld media device. It is definitely a smart move on Apple's part, and the only shocker here would be if there was no camera.

No Time to go Tune Your Car in the Shop?

With all of todays hustle and bustle it is difficult to find time in our schedules to go out and have our cars tuned when we need to. Whether it may be for hobby or out of sheer necessity, it would seem that if you have an iPad you won't need to drag yourself out to the car shop. You can simply download the free iOS app and purchase the $350 Bluetooth dongle. This i s SCT's idea called iTSX which would let you tune your car at home. This does seem like a great idea if you do own an iPad and understand how to do this. For most of us whom simply drive our cars out of necessity this is not something that would probably turn our head, but for car enthusiasts it may be worth your while to go out and get an iPad and then purchase the SCT iTSX hardware and application.

iPad 2

There have been many rumors in regard to the new release of the iPad which would give it a front-facing camera as well as a normal back camera. The expected time of the new release would be sometime in early 2011. There has been nothing more than parts which have been ordered as a reference to the possibility of cameras being on the new iPad 2. From the way which things sound it is definitely going to be a very exciting year in the tech world. With this Apple will simply continue to pull forward in the mobile entertainment world and this will probably lead to even greater and innovative devices from other companies trying to compete with Apple.

Free iPad

Of course there is a catch for a free iPad. Softbank in Japan is offering it's 16GB iPad's with 3G for free when you sign up for a 2 year contract with them. Of course Softbank is also exclusively in Japan, but this is something that is good for it's citizens. Although it is stated as free instead of paying over 24 months like normal you will be paying for a $56 a month 3G data plan. In the end as always it is the plan that will come and bite you in the butt with payments. In reality you will be paying more for what it would cost to just buy an IPad. I am sure that we could live without 3G in order to save a bit of money.

BBC IPlayer

BBC fans you are in for a treat. The BBC IPlayer has been in the UK for quite sometime already and will finally be coming to the U.S. It will be released of course first as an iPad app, and will later on be released to other platforms. It will allow it's users to catch up on the shows which they have missed. It is hard to see how this will not be a success once it reaches over to the U.S. since BBC provides some very quality t.v. shows and international news. This is definitely one of those apps to keep tabs on since it will be one of the more anticipated applications coming out soon.

What kind of case should I buy?

Once you've decided to protect your new Apple iPad with a case, you are still faced with many choices. What material do I want the case to be made from? What color do I want the case to be? What design do I want the case to have? Fortunately there is a large selection of different cases to choose from, allowing you to find a case that perfectly suits your personal preference.

Silicone Cases

A popular case material for many mobile devices is silicone. Silicone cases are also know as silicone skins, or silicone pouches. These cases popularity is derived from their durability, simplicity and wide color variety. Silicone cases have a rubbery texture, giving the user an improved tactile grip in comparison to the iPad's smooth aluminum backing. These cases create a cushion like effect if the iPad is dropped, minimalizing damage and ensuring the iPad stays scratch free. Silicone cases often come in many different translucent colors. This allows the user to customize their iPad in the color of their choice, yet still retain the iPad's original design elements.

Plastic Cases

Plastic cases are also popular with mobile device users. Often called hard cases or hard shells, these cases have a rigid feel to them. Plastic cases allow for easy snap on installation and excellent protection. These cases give the device a case that creates an overall sturdy and secure feel. Some cases even offer s silicone grip, giving the user the tactile feel of silicone with the structural integrity of plastic. Plastic cases are commonly available in transparent designs. This allows the user to keep their iPad free from scratches and nicks and maintain the iPad's original silver and black color scheme.

Leather Cases

Leather cases are popular with professional users of mobile devices, or anyone who likes the upscale look and feel that a leather case brings. These cases provide excellent grip and protection, with an executive level design. These cases are thought to be the most durable, due to the historic dexterity of leather compared to cases made from synthetic components. Leather cases normally are in notebook form, with a cover that opens and closes on top of the iPad screen.

Pouches and Socks

Pouches are perfect for those who like the original look and feel of the Apple iPad, but want to keep it protection while on the go. Pouch design ranges from standard solid colors, to colorful zebra stripes. Apple iPad socks are a fun and unique pouch storage solution, with simple and sharp color designs.

The flip pouch

For the best of both worlds (pouches and cases,) flip pouches are available for the Apple iPad. These sport folder designs, giving it a professional and understated look and feel. These cases offer all the functionality and protection of a case, but allow for easy removal and screen protection offered by a pouch.

Sams Club Launches iPad Sales

Sams Club is known for it's incredible savings on bulk goods, but did you know this holiday season you can save on your iPad purchases? Sams Club has geared up for the holidays and will be selling iPads along with their mass amounts of food. The prices that they will be selling the iPads at is also another reason to shop at Sams Club. The 16GB iPad with wi-fi will be sold for $488 and the iPad with 3G will be selling for $609. This makes Sams Club more than just your one stop holiday grocery store, but also your stop for that hot new gift. It is not surprising to see that they will be selling the iPad since this year it seems that everyone is really gearing up for a competitive holiday season in sales.

Genius!

Many iPad owners have become largely dissatisfied with the new IOS 4.2 update on their devices. It has turned the lock button on the top into a mute button. Many of us may be confused that we must now go through a very annoying process in order to lock our iPad. We must not double tap the home button, swipe left, and then tap to lock their iPad. I personally feel that this is something that users can deal with with the volume rocker switch. The lock button was a much better feature, and despite Apple's claims that this is to help with multitasking people are already used to it as a lock switch so why change it now. I would suggest everyone get on their computers as soon as they can and complain if this is an issue for you.

Solution to Your iPad Mute Button Problems

As we have already covered in an earlier post that the IOS 4.2 update we have lost the orientation lock button on the top of devices, and it has become a mute button. Unfortunately there are not really many options to fix this aside from jail breaking your device. It is not necessarily what Apple had in mind, but there is no software fix for this in sight at the moment. Since this is the case if you want your orientation lock button back then you will have to jailbreak your iPad and go to the app repository known as Cydia and download the NoMute App. It seems it isn't true for Apple's slogan of "We have an app for that," since they certainly do not have an app for this.
