The graphics

Age of Conan uses DreamWorld DirectX10 capable engine, which makes the graphics look absolutely amazing. What's more, most of animation is done using motion capture technology, and professional designers are doing their best to design a lush, rich and savage world that just feels 'real'.

The combat

Age of Conan has a unique, 'Real Combat' system, never seen in a MMORPG game before. There's no selecting the target - you will have to actually aim your blows at the enemy yourself. That means you can hit multiple enemies at once, as long as they are within the range of your weapon. Gaute Godager, the game director, affectionately calls this combat system the 'dance of death'. It's uncensored, brutal and bloody!

The game will have mounted combat, and players will actually be able to attack from the back of their mounts with a sword, pike, and even a bow or a magic spell.

The PvP

There are no factions in AoC - the wars are all a result of guild politics. The most powerful guilds will be able to build huge castles and cities, and then engage in massive siege battles. Guildless players will be available for hire as mercenaries.

There will be other new forms of PvP like drunken brawling, and more 'traditional' ones, like dueling, arena fights and the 'Capture the Flag' mini-game.

The PvE

Although AoC might seem like a PvP-focused game, it has plenty of contents for PvE lovers as well, including a lot of dungeons, both instanced and static, destiny quests, a huge variety of mobs for you to defeat, and over 200 hours (!) of raiding content.

The magic

The magic in Age of Conan might not be so flashy, but it's no less powerful. That power comes at a cost though. You get Soul Corruption after dealing with demons, and if you overuse your powers, you can lose control and put your entire party at a risk. Age of Conan will also introduce a new type of magic system, called spellweaving.

The crafting

Cutting up your enemies is not the only thing you can do in Age of Conan. Crafting will be an important aspect of the game, and experienced players will be able to create anything from weapons and armor to huge siege engines to be used in guild wars. Age of Conan also has a Diablo-like gems which Gemcutters can add to sockets on your items in order to improve and customize them.
