A Guide To Anything

What a wonderful place the internet has turned out to be coupled of course with the availability of the home pc which for those of you are not aware, has more computing power now than we used to send men to the moon.

How far we have come in the last 2 decades compared to ever before.

New Technology

New Technology

This fantastic marriage of technology has gradually eased its way to becoming the number one source for finding information about almost anything that you can think of (try doing a search for How to build a rocket for example).

If your a bit of a boffin you can even find information about all sorts of other technology that surrounds us every day, and if your really keen you can even download a computer aided design program and have a try at designing yourself.

And if the analysts are right then the delivery of digital media via the web is still in its infancy with a whole host of further technologies waiting in the wings to fuel our ever growing thirst for have it now information and media experiences (have you looked at You Tube yet?).

No More Libraries?

No More Libraries?

It was not so many years ago that if you wanted to found out anything it would mean a trip to the local library and then a lengthy search through the reference section.

If you local reference section was up to scratch then you may have found the information you were looking for but if not (which happened quite often), then it would be a further trip to the district or regional library.

Lest we also forget, the average home had a mountain of books and encyclopaedias used as references but in this day and age you can fit an entire library on to one computer! How's that advancement?

Finding the information you needed often took hours, days or even weeks compared to the minutes and instant gratification we have become used to today. It is no wonder why the pace of life seems to be accelerating ever upwards.

Download what You Need

Download What You Need

Also the way we learn has changed. Studies have shown, using traditional sit down and read techniques results in the average person only retaining about 10% of the information they actually read where as people retain up to 50% of what they learn via auditory and visual experiences.

Enter the age of the Audio Book Store!

Coupled with the advent of the MP3 Player (isn't technology a wonderful thing) we have witnessed an explosion in the availability of downloadable audio books giving rise to the mobile university and the emergence of the learn anything anywhere anytime experience.

People of today no longer have to attend evening classes to have the casual learning experience (although guided learning is a must for more complex subjects), instead they can just download the required material and listen to it in their spare time, which could be in the car, walking the dog and yes you've probably guessed it, even in the bath, shower or swimming (whatever next).

Enjoy Your Learning

Enjoy Your Learning

This gives people a highly effective and enjoyable learning experience which also leads to greater retention.

A recent Audio publishers association survey revealed that already nearly a quarter of the US population are already listening to audio books or learning in this way. And, the average audio book listener listens to audio book media for an average of 4.9 hours per week.

One style of education that is particularly suited to audio books are How To Guides. These tend to be for knowledge based casual learning where a person is merely trying to get a better understanding about a particular subject as opposed to a full on education.

Typical topics could include Self Improvement subjects for example how to improve your time management or perhaps how to speed read (if you have to read a lot at work).

Other guides could be based on your hobbies i.e. a guide to dog training or even a guide to cooking or, you could if you wished even learn a language.

One set of guides that tens of thousands of people have found very useful are set of guides from the Advantage Business Partnership written by Andy Guides (although I'm sure that's just his pen name).

This set of guides are in downloadable format but are also accompanied by a downloadable e-book for those that prefer to have reference material as well.

So, whatever your personal aspirations be sure you take maximum advantage of this excellent educational format and download a guide today, and to help you on the road to knowledge there are even some free trials.

Happy Learning.

Back It Up

Of course once you have found and downloaded the un-ending wealth of informantion you have at your fingertips no doubt you will store it safely on your computer ready for the next time you need it.

Don't be too complacent though, computers have a habit of breaking every once in a while so you'll want to make sure you have backed up your valuable searched for information.

Don't have backup!! No problem, the internet has you covered there as well as you can now store your data at one of the online storage data centers all over the world. You can even do a remote backup of all your favourite information and files to keep them nice and safe.
