My Personal Ubud Bali Experience

my story

I have always loved Bali, particularly Ubud. It is a place I go to for that getaway and relaxation.

The people in Bali are often very friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is just simply relaxing and calming.

I have been to Bali 3 times, with Ubud being my most frequented place.

In this Lense, I am going to share my top favourite Ubud spots and hopefully, you will enjoy Ubud too.

Places to Stay in Ubud

Where are the great hideaways in Ubud?

  1. Mandala Desa

    I love to stay at Mandala Desa. It is a place that gives you the privacy you need at a very reasonable price.

    The staff at Mandala Desa are very friendly and helpful. Though Mandala Desa is a little out of the way from town, the peace and quiet it gives away from the hustle and bustle just simply relaxes you.

    Prices are very reasonable. The last I checked, it cost US$85 per night for the villa.

    It even has a swimming pool for you to dip your worries away.
  2. Tegal Sari
    Tegal Sari is also another of my favourite hideouts. As always, staff are friendly and nice, and the rooms are well-kept. There is a swimming pool for you to dip yourself in and chill out. You could even choose to do massage by the pool.

    Tegal Sari is situated close to the town, so it is walking distance from the far end of town.

    Prices are reasonable, with a wide variety of rooms.

  3. Rumah Roda
    Inspired by the book, "A little bit one o'clock", I decided to stay at Rumah Roda.
    While the rooms are not really air-conditioned, the experience is totally memorable.
    Quite a few of the guests have been staying there frequently and it is always enjoyable to interact with them to find out about their travelling experiences and life's journeys.

    Very cheap rooms and usually always fully-booked.
    Very central to the Ubud Town Centre.

  4. Ketuts Place
    Ketuts Place is another sensation to stay in.
    With the flowing river in the background, it makes staying in Ketuts place all the more serene and relaxing.

    There are a variety of rooms too, but I much prefer to stay in the Deluxe room, where I get to enjoy the river flow and get that peace of mind.

    Ketuts place is close to the Ubud Town Centre and is charged at a affordable price.

An insight to the secret feasts in Ubud

  1. Kagemusha

    Yummy, Delicious Japanese Food at Kagemusha.
    You should never give it a miss here.
    Prepared very traditionally Japanese, the food is delicious, and at a very very reasonable price.

    You can have your dinner overlooking the padi fields. Great experience.
  2. Babi Guling

    This is a traditional Balinese dish, where pork is roasted till crispy and tastes DELICIOUS.

    Found in Ubud Centre, it opens about 11am and closes once all is sold out.

    You have got to try the Original Babi Guling.
  3. Bebek Bengil

    Bebek Bengil, otherwise known as Dirty Duck, got its name from duck stomping all over its compound when it first started building.

    FANTASTIC FOOD, overlooking padis..It is really an experience to feast on its smoked duck (reserver 24 hours before).

  4. MEGIBUNG AT RUMAH RODA

    The traditional Balinese feast, known as Megibung is AWESOME at Rumah Roda. It is fairly inexpensive and it serves great tasting, yummy traditional Balinese fare.

    You really got to try it.
    Check with Rumah Roda when they serve it as they change the days sometimes.
