Actively Participating In Peace
The very first ethical guideline of yoga, on of the yamas, is ahimsa (non-violence).
Not only is it important that we treat ourselves and others with kindness, but it is our responsibility as citizens of this planet that we stand up and do something (peacefully) when we see violence.
If we just look away from violence without so much as sending a blessing out, the path of unkindness remains unobstructed. However, by raising awareness, sending light and love, and also by actively and vocally being a part of change, the patterns of violence can be shifted.
What you do makes a difference.
What you think, how you treat others, and the actions you take directly influence the course of the world.
If you watch nothing else today, watch the videos below, and consider the importance of our decisions now.

"Most of the shadows of this life are caused by our standing in our own sunshine."
Quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson
Oh, how often we get in our own way. Generally we have the best intentions, and yet when we force things and don't listen to logic, intuition, or even others who are involved, things can go sideways. When this happens on a global scale, it's a big problem.
No, I'm not talking about the environment - that's a subject for another time. Right now I want to talk about something closer to the human heart.
At this moment there are tens of thousands of soldiers fighting a war based on lies. This war has not only sucked our economy dry, it has resulted in so many casualties there is no way to keep count.
And the really scary thing is, if things don't change quick, we could face something much, much worse.
Yoga is the path of living skillfully, mindfully, in awareness of the interconnectedness of all things. Yoga gives you tools to find equanimity in struggle, courage when faced with fear, compassion within anger, and peace within sorrow.
Yoga asks us to do what is life affirming; to serve the greater community by being a shining light and positively contributing member of the human race.
