With a secondary-headshot like that, why would I be?
This lens/application is starting as part of a study break. Parts will slowly be added to it over the course of the week, so check back for more!

The Expected
What I do now
The fun and exciting thing I do now that I'm most passionate about is Producing. I absolutely love it -- I started last year and caught the bug. I'm producing a musical for my College's company (the rights are being confirmed in about an hour and a half, so expect to know which one soon), and I produce and promote events in Montreal, my hometown. The slow, less interesting thing I do is study Psychology and Cinema at the University of Toronto. While I love what I'm studying, my education constantly gets on my nerves because no matter how productive my studying or essay-writing sessions are, I rarely feel like I'm producing anything of value to anyone else.
I also "blog", but virtually every time I sit down to write, I get caught in the mountains of bureaucratic red-tape maneuvering, readings, and assignments I have...
(In fact, right now, I'm taking a study break from my Film Theory textbook...)
Last but certainly not least, I'm a son, brother, cousin, nephew, and/or friend. My friends, and especially my family, have a special place in my heart. I make a conscious effort to go home every month to attend my 13+ people weekly family dinners, and my priorities are constantly in flux because I make sure I'm available to the people I care for who truly need me.
Why I do it
I do all of the above because I love them. I love the entertainment industry, and I love going out dancing. I love the topics I study, even though I don't necessarily love how they're taught. I love writing and communication in general. And I love those who are close to me.I think what brings my "jobs" together is how they allow me to express myself by allowing others to flourish:
- By producing, I get to help aspiring actors, actresses, directors, and musicians develop their skills.
- By promoting events, I get to be an integral part of friends and strangers alike forging new -- hopefully good -- memories.
- By blogging, I get a mouthpiece to share insights of my own with others who find them useful or interesting.
- By being around for those who need me, I like to think that I make a positive difference in my friends' and family's lives.
What I'm hoping to learn
To be completely honest, I don't know what I want to learn in terms of theories/knowledge. I could sit and think for a long time and come up with a few vague and useless abstract concepts. Instead, I'll give you the more valuable answer: what I would want to get out of this.1. I want to see a large-scale project through from a measured start to a measured finish.
2. I want to feel first-hand what it's like to take a leadership role in a small business.
3. I want to live in a city that is small enough to inspire me, but big enough to contain me.
4. I want to work to turn a product I don't fully support into one I would fight -- and possibly even die -- for (virtually, of course). More on this in "The Unexpected"...
5. I want to be pushed to follow personal projects of my own, and to have someone mentoring me along the way.
Seth, if you're ready to "teach" the above, I'm ready to learn it. If not, I'd love to know who I should be talking to!
What I am going to do with my learnings
Again, to be completely honest: I don't know. I don't want to make grand promises, because you and I (and everyone else reading this) will know that they likely all won't happen. The promise that I'm willing to make, though is:I will use what I learn to do good in this world.
And by do good, I mean I'll make at least one person's day easier, or bring a smile to at least one face.
Specifically, I can say that a lot of projects interest me. The first four-and-a-half that come to mind are:
1. I could take a huge step in changing the music industry's focus from a CD-focused business into one that is about the music again -- kind of like Topspin, one of the companies I respect most today, is doing.
2. I could produce movies and/or musicals that people want to see because they're being backed and/or organized by myself or my group -- kind of like Pixar does.
3. I could use street information to help people find parking spots -- kind of like your RadaR does.
4. I could help people understand the quality of mental health care available to them or their loved ones, allowing them to find better care if need be -- kind of like RateMDs.com.
4.5. I could live and be surrounded by people, buildings, and history that inspire me, give me fresh insight, and ultimately push me in the right direction. One that I might not have thought of yet.
A true story about making change in the world
I just finished writing this one, but Squidoo seems to have accidentally deleted my text. I'll rewrite it after my exam this afternoon. In the meantime, enjoy the smiles of the people whose lives I subtly changed. That's me on the left, with the Producer, Director, and two Actors of a play as you continue rightward.

My wish
I wish people took more time to consider the effects their actions and decisions have on others around them. Important!
