Appropriate Infrastructure Development Group
If you could walk into our heads like in "Being John Malkovich", you'd find a lot of this stuff.

Our deal
The Appropriate Infrastructure Development Group (AIDG) provides rural villages in developing countries with affordable and environmentally sound technologies that meet their need for clean water, electricity, and sanitation, the basics of life. Through a combination of business incubation, education, training, and outreach, we help individuals and communities gain access to technology that will dramatically improve their lives. Our model provides a novel approach to sustainable development by empowering people with the physical tools and practical knowledge to solve infrastructure problems in their own communities.

Intern with Us

Are you smart, motivated, and enthusiastic? Well, the AIDG needs you! We are currently expanding our internship program in Guatemala where our business incubation model is in full swing. Our mission is to promote the use of appropriate (read affordable, environmentally sound, and locally repairable) technologies in developing countries. We are looking for interns to assist our incubated business, XelaTeco. We are currently seeking:
- Engineering students and professionals to aid in the design, fabrication, installation, and/or marketing of appropriate technology products (e.g. windmills, solar PV/thermal systems, recycling processes, composting toilets, hydroelectricity, water filters, rain capture system, bicycle-powered devices, etc.)
- Students and professionals with experience in the creation of marketing and educational materials or accounting and business strategies.
Fluency in Spanish is not required though many interns concurrently study Spanish at the abundant and inexpensive Spanish schools in Xela.
For more information regarding this internship, please go to our Internship pages in our education section. To apply, please send a cover letter and resume internships at aidg dot org with the subject title INTERNSHIP. Thank you for your interest!

Come on a Tecotour

Imagine building a windmill from recycled car parts, and installing it in a rural village without electricity. Imagine constructing a water filter and providing clean water to a school. You can do that and more on a AIDG Tecotour.
A TecoTour is not just another chance to travel. On a TecoTour, you'll roll up your sleeves, get your hands dirty, and help us make a meaningful impact on a rural community.

Donate to AIDG

The AIDG is starting up a new montly giving program, which gives you an easy, convenient and effective way to help build a sustainable future in developing countries. Your tax-deductible gift ensures that the AIDG can continue to bring affordable and environmentally sound technology solutions to developing countries - every day of the year.
For far less than you might spend on a daily cup of coffee, you can help increase access to the basics of life: electricity, sanitation and clean water. You can make a big difference!
We are trying to get 1000 people to sign up at $10 or more a month by December 31st of this year. Help us reach our goal.
Get involved with AIDG

Roughly 2 billion people do not have access to basic services such as electricity, clean drinking water and sanitation. Development of this infrastructure is essential to breaking the cycle of poverty in developing countries.
You can help change that. Get involved with AIDG.
