A team of Paramedics may be just what the doctor ordered! Our team will change the way you think about real estate agents. From the way we dress to the way we conduct business, you will see right away, we are NOT your typical team of agents!

If you are looking for a stuffed shirt with a bunch of hype then keep on looking. This team is definitely NOT for you. But, if you are looking for a team that has your goals, objectives, and bottom line at the top of their list, then you are in the right spot!

Our team originated as the result of two Paramedics who sustained injury that rendered them unable to return to the road. Both with over ten years of service in the field, had taken up the hobby of Real Estate on the side while working as Paramedics in the field. It only seemed logical when returning to the field as Paramedics was no longer an option, to pursue Real Estate as a career. Wow! What a mind shift this was! We took the appropriate classes and state exams and finally we were on our way....well...sort of. We got a new wardrobe and we surrounded ourselves with the best in the business to learn from and pick up valuable tips and tricks. We endured the classes, the state exam, the new wardrobe, only to find ourselves on the brink of the coming housing crisis! Struggling in the extremely competitive world of Real Estate, and missing the feeling of "helping" and "service" that EMS had provided all those years, the thought had occurred that maybe we were in the wrong field, or maybe it was just the wrong time. Frustrated, we decided to give it another go, but this time we were going to make our own path! We were going back to our roots in the EMS field! So we came up with the ABC's of Real Estate. We wrote protocols similar to those we used in EMS, but geared to our new "patients", our clients. With our new outlook, came greater understanding. We were not going to join the Real Estate world. We were going to change it! If not overall, at least for those who choose to enter into a business relationship with us. For those clients, the "Real Estate" world would never be the same!

Our team has performed in some of the most stressful environments you can imagine, and most often times sleep deprived, under extreme weather conditions, as well as a myriad of other stress producing environments. We have a great deal of experience with stress and how to deal with it. The task is how can we help take the stress off of our clients? The same way we did in the back of the ambulance. Providing them with knowledge. The more we could tell our patients about what was going to happen next, the more fear and stress we could reduce. Interestingly enough, the same is true for any given situation. We cannot alleviate all the pains and strains associated with buying or selling a property, but we CAN provide as much information possible to reduce the stress associated with the fear of the unknown. Let us take some of the stress of buying or selling your home off of you!

ABC's of REAL ESTATE  

Clients are the airway that provide the breathing, but it's up to me to be the pulse!

As Paramedics we were trained to focus on three things FIRST when coming in contact with a patient. Those were, in order, airway, breathing, and circulation, or ABC's as we called it. If anything was wrong with one of those things, we treated it immediately before moving on to any multitude of minor things that may be happening. Those first three were vital to your patients survival and ultimate quality of life.

The ABC's are just as relevant in the real estate arena. Our clients would be the airway. Without them we have no business. It is important that we take care of them first and foremost. The breathing would be our client's prospective goal, whether that be buying or selling. It's what the pulse works on getting where it needs to be and when it needs to be there. Although each and every part is essential, none can sustain the "life" without the others. In a medical nutshell, this is how our team views our part in assisting my clients with their goals.

Top Ten Things You Should Know When Buying a Home

1. Don't buy if you can't stay put.

If you can't commit to remaining in one place for at least a few years, then owning is probably not for you, at least not yet. With the transaction costs of buying and selling a home, you may end up losing money if you sell any sooner.

2. Start by shoring up your credit.

Since you most likely will need to get a mortgage to buy a house, you must make sure your credit history is as clean as possible. A few months before you start house hunting, get copies of your credit report. Make sure the facts are correct, and fix any problems you discover.

3. Aim for a home you can really afford.

The rule of thumb is that you can buy housing that runs about two-and-one-half times your annual salary. But you'll do better to use one of many calculators available online to get a better handle on how your income, debts, and expenses affect what you can afford.

4. Don't worry if you can't put down the usual 20 percent.

There are a variety of public and private lenders who, if you qualify, offer low-interest mortgages that require a down payment as small as 3 percent of the purchase price.

5. Buy in a district with good schools.

In most areas, this advice applies even if you don't have school-age children. Reason: When it comes time to sell, you'll learn that strong school districts are a top priority for many home buyers, thus helping to boost property values.

6. Get professional help.

Even though the Internet gives buyers unprecedented access to home listings, most new buyers (and many more experienced ones) are better off using a professional agent. Look for an exclusive buyer agent, if possible, who will have your interests at heart and can help you with strategies during the bidding process.

7. Choose carefully between points and rate.

When picking a mortgage, you usually have the option of paying additional points -- a portion of the interest that you pay at closing -- in exchange for a lower interest rate. If you stay in the house for a long time -- say five to seven years or more -- it's usually a better deal to take the points. The lower interest rate will save you more in the long run.

8. Before house hunting, get pre-approved.

Getting pre-approved will you save yourself the grief of looking at houses you can't afford and put you in a better position to make a serious offer when you do find the right house. Not to be confused with pre-qualification, which is based on a cursory review of your finances, pre-approval from a lender is based on your actual income, debt and credit history.

9. Do your homework before bidding.

Your opening bid should be based on the sales trend of similar homes in the neighborhood. So before making it, consider sales of similar homes in the last three months. If homes have recently sold at 5 percent less than the asking price, you should make a bid that's about eight to 10 percent lower than what the seller is asking.

10. Hire a home inspector.

Sure, your lender will require a home appraisal anyway. But that's just the bank's way of determining whether the house is worth the price you've agreed to pay. Separately, you should hire your own home inspector, preferably an engineer with experience in doing home surveys in the area where you are buying. His or her job will be to point out potential problems that could require costly repairs down the road.
