Only a few weeks away from it's US and European launch, Aion is a new MMO title from NCSoft, that has gained a large and loyal following in Asia, where it was launched last year. Aion has many similarities to World of Warcraft, but look a little close and you'll see it's a very different
game! This is a highly unique and visually dazzling MMORPG that seeks to appeal to WoW fans while also competing to be better than that game, at least in some ways.

As you start playing Aion, you may start to question why some Aion players are easily dominating through rapid progress through all the levels. They also seem to be landing incredible amounts of kinah, yet at the same time they managed to get some great high end loot. Soon you have to face up to the obvious conclusion: They know more about the game mechanics and features than anyone else.

In the game of Aion, if you choose to have a character begin as a Warrior, upon reaching Level 10 you can have that character become a Templar. Templars are Daevas (winged, immortal humans) who are the absolute masters of defense, although their ability to attack should not be underestimated.

In the game of Aion, if you begin a character as a Warrior, once that character reaches Level 10 and gets his wings you can choose to make him into a Gladiator. This is a Daeva who follows the Star of the Sword, with the Elysean Gladiators following the Empyrean Lord Nezekan, who watches over justified wars, and the Asmodian Gladiators serving the Empyrean Lord Zikel, lord of destruction and slaughter.

But Assassins serve a vital role--taking out strong, pernicious enemies who are a thorn in their allies' sides. Disruption and infiltration on the battlefield are also highly useful tactical skills which the Assassin is supreme master of.

A Ranger is a Daeva with great speed, stealth, stamina, and utter mastery of the Bow & Arrow. They can also wield an exceptionally good sword or dagger for close combat. Rangers are also masters of setting traps. But it must be kept in mind that their highly specialized equipment does make them one of the most expensive characters to play.

Mage Classes in Aion - The Sorcerer

Sorcerers are intellectuals, really. They can be found constantly toting around orbs and books of spells. But their enemies should not be fooled, for these characters use those intellectual items as powerful weapons to strike their enemies down. In fact, the Sorcerer has quite an array of long range devastating attacks and quite an array of area effects. Enemies can be put to sleep, rooted, or perhaps morphed so that they cannot come close to this character or get close to his group of allies.

Spiritmasters - Exploring the Mage Classes in Aion

In addition to having this direct command over Elemental Spirits, Spiritmasters can also heal or strengthen their pets and interfere with enemies' mobility like their counterpart Sorcerers can do. But unlike Sorcerers, Spiritmasters don't use spells to command natural elements. Instead, they can directly speak to and invoke the Spirits of those elements.

Aion Priest Classes - Introducing the Chanter

The Chanter's Mantras can be used to strengthen allies who are within the area of effect. The Chanter is also a highly effective melee combatant because of his astonishing Staff-wielding skill. However, Chanters don't have the mana reserves of their counterpart Clerics or similar characters Sorcerers or Spiritmasters , so judicious use of their magic is a must for them.

Exploring Priest Classes in Aion - The Cleric

In addition to their amazingly powerful healing abilities, Clerics can cast ranged spells for damaging or weakening enemies while also using magic to buff themselves and their allies. But their specialty is protection and healing of their allies, making them the magical counterpart to the Templar warriors.
