Air Fresheners: A Threat to Your Health

Air Fresheners

Air fresheners are a product which claims to freshen the air, to end unpleasant odors, to bring new fragrance experiences to the consumer.

Yet the air freshener industry, which has a turnover of more than $8 billion a year, is selling a product which many experts claim to be a potential threat to public health, in other words, a potential threat to your family's health should you use this product.

Look at the packaging of air freshener products and you will see that no ingredients are listed. Thus consumers are unable to decide whether the product they are buying and that they, their children and their babies are breathing is safe or not.

However, independent tests (see below) have shown that unsafe ingredients are used in many brands of air freshener.

Furthermore, air freshener is affecting not just the people who use this product but their neighbors and the public at large.

Presently, there is not a book quite like Get A Whiff Of This. Books have been written about cosmetic ingredients, yet most people are not aware of the serious, harmful health effects of fragrance chemicals due to false advertising, failure to bear warning labels, and lack of media attention. Millions of people are disabled from repeated exposures to these deleterious products. Synthetic fragrances are ubiquitous in the U.S., and avoidance is nearly impossible unless a person remains housebound. Many people are under the false impression that perfumes are derived from flowers and other natural sources. Get A Whiff Of This will educate people and, therefore, give readers the knowledge they need inorder to protect their health and the health of their loved ones. Incidents of Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS), which has become an alarmingly growing epidemic in the U.S., asthma, and central nervous system and neurological disorders are on the rise. Our Toxic World: A Wake Up Call

Our Toxic World: A Wake Up Call

Amazon Price: $19.95 (as of 05/28/2012)Buy Now

Author Doris J. Rapp, M.D. is Board Certified in Environmental Medicine, Pediatrics and Allergies. In her book "Our Toxic World" she shares her knowledge of how everyday toxins in our environment affect us. The reality is that chemicals are everywhere in our lives and it is nearly impossible to completely escape them. It would surprise most people to find that these chemicals not only affect our physical health but also our actions, behavior (aggression, fatigue, hyperactivity, etc.), fertility, and even our memory. Through this book Doris Rapp rings the alarm about how pesticides and chemicals have become major factors in chronic illnesses of all kinds.

Of course the book is not just about all the problems of toxins but also includes sound advice on how to choose safer products and protect yourself...

I did like her summarizing statement that we are creating stronger more chemically-resistant pests and weeds and weaker, more unhealthy humans. In addition to the toxins she also discusses genetic engineering and the potential health problems it may cause. If you are concerned about the toxic environment and how it may be affecting your health you will be hard pressed to find a more informative, better-documented book than "Our Toxic World".

The Big Lie

TV ads say air fresheners make your air fresh. (LIE)

They make the air more polluted and contain potential dangers to your health and life.

Open the windows, use elbow grease to clean your house, use the fresh smell of lemon juice.
