My strategy to find the best air travel deal online 

Going to a physical travel agency is so 2005. If you want to get the cheapest price on air fare you will have to search online. But with gazillions of cheap, discount, last minute, and other "super saver" travel websites, I have usually found some of the best deals at Orbitz.

But, and that was a surprise to me, in many instances I was able to get the lowest air fare from the airline web sites directly. It's always worth a try. The trick however, is to know exactly when travel is generally the cheapest, since most airlines do not voluntarily offer this information. Of course this works best when your travel dates are flexible!

Favorite Online Air Travel Sites 

We all know the big internet travel sites like expedia and travelocity. And while they're not always offering the lowest fares they're still a good place to start your research.

There is no single best site for every kind of air travel but some lesser known travel sites often offer incredible deals in their specific niche.
