Airline Business Books
Textbook style for serious readers!
These books are all excellent books about airlines, but they do have a few issues - they tend to attract a specific audience and so read like textbooks and they suffer from documenting the industry at a point in time, when we all know it changes extremely quickly and unless you are really lucky, you won't get them at your local library!
However, if you are serious about the industry, these books and these guys will teach you a lot and give you a great grounding for understanding and seeing through the rather more 'fluffy' commentary and analysis you'll see in the mainstream media!
I particularly like the Airline Marketing & Management one; you'll keep going back to it because it talks about the basics.

Weather Crisis
Remember the bad weather in the UK that caused big issues for airlines? What a mess. Unfortunately, while they are the most visible part of air travel, they are not in control of the infrastructure and are reliant on other parties, particularly airports and air traffic control. It seems a bit unfair that airlines took a lot of blame for airport operators being unprepared and unable to make their facilities work during the bad weather, but it was the airlines that suffered the most - both financially and in reputation. If the same thing happened in future, would it be better?
