In Airplane! The Movie, ex-Navy pilot Ted Striker has been nervous about flying ever since THAT incident during the war.

He's on a flight which would cause anyone concern: he seems to be the only sane person aboard. Of course, everything that could possibly go wrong on this flight does go wrong.

What do you expect with a co-pilot who doesn't realize he's a basketball star, and an air traffic controller with a substance abuse problem?

I remember going to the cinema to watch this movie when it was first released, and it is one of the few films that actually made me laugh out loud. So much so, that I was crying with laughter at some of the rapid one-liners. It still makes me laugh today, even after several viewings and the passing of a lot of time.

I remember watching Airplane 2 in the theater and being SEVERELY disappointed. Having rewatched it recently, there are a few bright spots. (But stll nowhere near as great as the original.) I will admit that the gag where William Shatner's character is introduced on the "viewscreen" is brilliant.
