Hello! I have sooo much to learn. I thoroughly enjoyed your candor and willingness to admit mistakes. It is all very intimidating but I am determined to, one day, become a giant squid. In the interest of full disclosure, I should admit that I teach web communication with an emphasis on social media at a local university. It just goes to show you, that you can never know enough about the digital world. :)
    Thanks

I really enjoyed this lensography. Thank you so much for sharing your story and a bit of your stats for those of us who are setting goals of our own to live up to. It was quite motivating.

I always enjoy reading your works. This article was certainly a cliff hanger for me going from one page to the next. Well worth the read. I couldn't leave here without leaving a blessing from the SquidAngel of Lensographies. You are featured on SquidAngel Lensographies.
  • Wednesday_Elf Feb 3, 2011 @ 5:28 pm | delete
Took me awhile (2 months), but I finally completed my SquidAngel Tribute lens and now this fine example is featured in the 'Lensography' section of my "SquidAngel Blessings by an Elf" lens. :-). I also lensrolled it. Hope all is going well with you, my friend.
  • LisaAuch Oct 30, 2010 @ 3:02 pm | delete
I was pointed to your lensography as a great example! and I can honestly say, I have sat missing my favourite programme on TV, as I just had to finish reading this. I never thought I would get to the magic 50 but I am nearly there, and like you have overcome personal ahurdles to get there, I loved how you opened out your whole life to Squidoo, and as you say it helped you and that is how I feel. This was just wonderful to read, thankyou
  • Othercat Oct 25, 2010 @ 3:16 pm | delete
This is incredible. To think of what you've been through and what you've accomplished.......all I can say is "You go girl!". As one of the best lensography's I've ever read, it deserves (and gets) my angel blessing.
  • Wednesday_Elf Sep 28, 2010 @ 6:24 am | delete
Hi AJ. Your Squidoo story and the wide range of your lenses and accomplishments have been an inspiration to me ever since I was a tiny baby Squid. :-). I first read this outstanding lensography and story of your Squidoo journey way back in December 2009 (well, that sounds like a long time ago :-) and left you my comments. Those comments didn't include what I now have the privilege of bestowing -- my ~~SquidAngel Blessing~~ for a lensography that is 'above and beyond'.
  • aj2008 Sep 28, 2010 @ 6:33 am | delete
    Thank you so much!

Oh Wow! Thank you! It is comments like this that remind me I really must get this lens completely up to date as my Squidoo story continues!

I LOVED reading about your Squidoo journey and it really is a journey, isn't it? You have given so much back already. I, personally, am learning so much from you, especially from your blogging experiment. Keep up the great work and happy 2-year anniversary in advance.

Wow, AJ, I don't know how I missed this one. It is fantastic. I read every word. Your lenses are always so good and I have been impressed with you since the first time I saw your avatar in the forum about 1 1/2 yrs ago. Thank you for all you have done for Squidoo and for me.

I came by here a few weeks back and read about half of it, I had to log off all of the sudden so I bookmarked it so I could come back. It took me awhile lol, but I finally made it back. I love this lens and found it very interesting, you can feel your passion for your lenses and I can understand that because I feel the same way. I love how you told us about each one and what it means to you. Nice job thanks so much for sharing.

    Robin :)

Wow! Here I was busily doing a search on Squidoo to see if a Title I was thinking about had been used - came across your lensography and decided to take a look, as I need to make one. 30 minutes later, I have reached the end (would have taken longer, but I carefully forced myself not to get further distracted by clicking on so many of your lenses listed I want to read - which I will do later). Your Squidoo journey is fascinating and your adventures along the way prove what I've always believed ... 'Things happen for a reason'. If your life had continued on your original path, you may never have discovered some of the interesting things you are doing today. Congratulations on your wonderful accomplishments on Squidoo.

This has been quite a journey for you over the last couple of years, glad to hear you have coped as well as you have and got to work for one of your heroes that must have been a lovely bonus and just shows that writing a lens really can get you noticed. Well done.

This lens is fantastic! What a wonderful recap of your time with Squidoo! Very inspiring! You are my hero!!
  • Tipi Sep 27, 2009 @ 9:17 pm | delete
No, I don't think RocketMoms is sexist! ` Lol! I had to laugh when I read that, did see that before. Aj, I just lost about 80 links to other lensmaster's linsographies and returned to get the link to this first. Grrr! That same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago on another lens that were info links to that topic. I know, its all good and everything works together for good... Wanted to say hi, and wish you all the best once again. ~ Oh, I got a charge today when Linda Holley the author of Tipis Tepees Teepees visited my book review lens. She was gracious and gave me a word of encouragement to update and add new content, so I've been busy since. Fun how a word can motivate us. That was so neat that I wanted to share it with you.

    I think of you often!
    Susie

This is fabulous! Give yourself a big pat on the back and then go into edit mode--congratulations, you have met one of your ambitions and have been a Giant Squid all summer already, time to update that list! I'll put in a good word for you to Seth about that job opportunity.

Whoah, this is fabulous. How inspiring and I feel I know you a little. You're doing a great job of finding a way to enjoy the detours life threw you! I found Squidoo when I was looking for a way to improve my music's rankings in Google but it's quickly becoming a interesting place to share things I'm particularly interested in. By the way, I LOVE the way you used the allposters links. What a smart idea!
  • lakern26 Aug 3, 2009 @ 3:37 pm | delete
This lens was very inspirational. The WAHM lens by Janet21 is also the very first one that I read and the one that inspired me to join. As a stay-at-home mom myself, I look to Squidoo as a way of earning extra money, too, but have found it to be so much more. Thank you for sharing your story and how you've continued to come up with ideas for more lenses. Also, I really appreciate your visiting my lenses and, especially, the Angel blessings. Thanks again!

I enjoyed reading your lens - you have a very nice writing style. I learned a great deal from this lens, thank you. 5*s
  • Home-Interior-Designer Jul 17, 2009 @ 9:25 am | delete
Great lens. What a lot of work you've put into this. You're definitely one of the more familiar lensmasters and that is a testament to your squidoo skills. A UK convention sounds fun.
  • SimeyC Jul 17, 2009 @ 9:01 am | delete
Excellent Lensography - congrats on the Giant Squid in June - dorry for the lateness of this, I assumed that you were already one!!!! 5* and lensrolled to my Lensography!

Enjoyed reading your lensography, I like the idea of a Squidoo convention, and we will certainly look into the play Hairspray:)
  • RobFonner Jul 16, 2009 @ 4:40 pm | delete
Great story! I started writing lens recently to increase traffic to my wife's website. I find I have a knack for writing although it's still in its elementary state. Congratulations on your achievements at Squidoo and we will follow your progress through life.
  • SilverBlueRose Jul 10, 2009 @ 11:30 am | delete
I loved the way you explained how you got your ideas. I personally find thinking up ideas the hardest part.

P.S. I read a rumour that Charles might call himself "King George" if he ever makes it to the throne. So you might wish to nab king george as an URL too and leave it unpublished just in case (I would do this myself, but whenever Charles' name comes up I turn Republican, so don't really want to write about him LOL - Am hoping Queen Bess lives to 120).
  • sandyspider Jul 9, 2009 @ 9:06 am | delete
Congratulations on your Giant Squidness! I try to get to all the Rocket Mom lenses. I can't believe I missed this one. The squid body looks good on you. Nice lensography!

AJ - I LOVE this lensography! I love it that you chronicle your entire "Squidoo journey"! I spent so much time looking through it and reading your lenses that I feel as though I know you. What a creative and original way to present all your lenses - right in the order you made them, and in teh context of your life. Very, very enjoyable - and you can't say that about a lot of lensographies! Five stars, favorited, and I'm tweeting it right now! :-)

Wow! What a great way to organize your Lenses!

Also, I found Janet21's Lens "Are you a stay at home Mom or Dad?" to be very inspiring -- it was certainly one of the reasons I decided to stick with Squidoo!
  • JaguarJulie Jun 15, 2009 @ 11:58 am | delete
Hmmm, this lensrank is wonky! Like my lensography that plummeted. Not sure what happened to this lens as it is quite remarkable.
  • CCGAL Jun 14, 2009 @ 9:47 am | delete
This is the most detailed lensography I've ever seen. I'm embarrassed by my own lack of records - I could no more tell you what order I've made my lenses in than I could fly. There are so many details I admire about this lens, I doubt I can get to all of them in a mere 1000 characters.

First, I love the voice in the narrative - as I read it, I could easily imagine watching an indie art film unfolding. Perhaps a premonition of your undoubtedly famous future self's work?

Second, I had no idea of the personal struggles you'd been through - knowing that part of your story adds a dimension to your story that cannot help but touch hearts.

Third, the layout is very easy on my eyes. I love the airy, simple look that disguises the complexity of the narrative. Great use of allposters.com graphics, too.

Fourth, the detailed accounting of when and why each lens was created was simply fantastic. I had to beat down the green-headed monster of envy here. I so wish I had kept records. 5*
  • TheGreenerMe Jun 9, 2009 @ 8:45 am | delete
This is a beautiful lensography, very detailed! I like the fact that you've broken it down by lens and given us some further insight on each lens, it makes it very personal.

There are no words that I can use to accurately descibe this lens. Absolutely phenominal! It was creative and very unique. I feel the same way about Squidoo as you do...writing on here and making new friends has really helped me in my everyday life. I'm excited for you...almost to 50! I know you will make this deadline...wish I could say the same for me. I guess you will have to go for the 100 mark next ;) Good luck!

What a great way to do a lensography! But then again, every lens you do has so much purpose and focus. I especially appreciate your style of writing although it keeps me glued to the lens until I've read every word. It's time well spent as I'm always gaining something new or a unique perspective. Squidoo is definitely a better place because of you! Here's to wishing you ever increasing success in the financial department as well. Blessed, of course! ^:)^

It is remarkable to see how much love you put into your Squidoo work, AJ. Each one of your lenses is a piece of personal art. You're a wonderful role model for all lensmasters. This lensography deserves a hearty Squid Angel Blessing. :-)
  • spirituality May 29, 2009 @ 11:06 am | delete
Wow - what a great way to do a lensography - but I think your next one should be a topical lensography. Like about family, or writing, or a niche you've been making lenses about - a theme I see emerging is UK topics, for instance. Loads of affiliate products related to that, I should think :)

Anyhow, came by to wish you a happy birthday (belatedly) and this is another blessed lens :)

You have done probably the most thorough, thought-provoking lensography I've seen to date. It is nice to read the stats for each lens, get an idea of the order in which they were made, and also to understand a little history behind their creation!

Wow! What accomplishments! I would love to have you as a mentor. So many of the things you write about hit home to me. I wish I could have known then what I know now about promoting lenses without Spamming. I am afraid that in the beginning I thought that just getting my links on every page possible was a way to get known. Now when I see that in others I cringe.

This is a lens that I will read over and over as it is the most inspiring lens I have ever read. I am recommending it for LOTD!
