History of the Golden Retriever
Golden Retrievers were originally developed in Scotland. It is thought that the original cross was a blonde-colored retriever with at Tweed Water Spaniel.
The Golden Retrievers were created in hopes to create the ultimate hunting dog. The dog excels in water sports, duck hunting, and retrieval. They make great therapy dogs, guide dogs, and search and rescue dogs.

Golden Retrievers love to work, so you may want to find some sort of "job" for your Golden, or at least keep up training, which can evolve into agility, and tricks. This breed is very trainable because of their desire to please, so by all means TRAIN!
The breed is great with children, but you must always supervise playtimes because the dog may accidentally injure the child due to its size.
Because it is a retrieving dog%u2026 Golden Retrievers LOVE retrieving, so the breed can easily become addicted to fetch, but the unconditional love that a Golden can provide should be worth the sore arm ;-)
