AKG K81DJ Review : What's the hype about?

Welcome to my practical AKG K81DJ Review. To effectively evaluate this product by AKG, I did want any good reviewer should do, I bought the AKG K81 DJ headphones myself! The following AKG K81DJ Review should help you in deciding if these headphones are suitable for your purposes or not.

AKG K81DJ Review : Recommended Use

If you are not familiar with the AKG K81 DJ closed-back foldable headphones, then know now, that these were designed specifically for use in small clubs, parties, and other related informal settings, meant to provide reliable equipment for the semi-professional DJ, or for the casual user who is simply a bit more serious in their tastes!

AKG K81DJ Review : The Design

The AKG K81 DJ headphones overall are average sized closed supra-aural headphones, with slightly larger than average ear couplings. The couplings will most likely accommodate those with all but the largest of ears rather snuggly.

The K81 DJ headphones also come with the standard adjustable head band arrangement, and can be adjusted to maintain it's trademark 'snug fit' for nearly anyones head size.

These headphones are composed of a steel like head band, rubber outer casing, and pleather ear cushions. All attached to a 2.5m cord, a little long for some users, but adequate for others.

AKG K81DJ Review : Overall Comfort Factor

The AKG K81 DJ will not win any awards for its comfort factor, however this is no fault of the overall design, but a direct consequence of the strong pressure these headphones exert on ones ears. These headphones are designed to create a very tight seal around the wearers ears, so as to simply stop any sound from radiating out of the headphones, nor any ambient sounds from drifting into them.

Although this feature makes for a much improved listenng experience with out a doubt, one should expect that after a few hours of use for their ears to be rather hot, and they may have a slight headache until they get used to extend wear of these headphones.

AKG K81DJ Review : Sound Quality

As previously mentioned, the AKG K81 DJ is designed for semi-professional DJ use, thus the sound quality is very good, with a more well balanced bass response than AKG's previous model.

However, the K81 DJ does produce a more pronounced bass sound, especially when listening on the lower and higher tonal levels. There is not distortion, nor is there the trademark "boominess," of the bass that has plagued other previous models, but one can tell that the bass is simply a tad more pronounced.

In net effect, the K81 DJ headphones seem to excel if your listening to hard rock, rap, hip hop, or pop music, but may sound a little too 'bassy' if your trying to listen to a classical selection, or folk music. But then again, these 'were' designed for DJ use.

AKG K81DJ Review : Quality vs. Value

After using this product for a sufficient time to complete my AKG K81DJ Review, it has become very easy for me to strongly recommend the K81 DJ headphones. These headphones are well constructed, dependable, and very durable, with well above average overall sound quality! If you are looking for good quality semi-professional use headphones, in the K81 DJ's general price range, you simply can not go wrong with AKG's K81 DJ headphones....Period.

I will say this, there is most definately a reason why this particular model has become so popular, because the K81 DJ backs up it's manufacturers claims, and simply delivers.

These headphones are currently selling like crazy, and many stores are actually starting to show them as 'out of stock.' My recommendation, if you are truly interested in getting a pair of these, don't wait long.

I just bought them a couple of weeks ago. Great headphones, the only problem I have with them is that my ears hurt A LOT after long sessions ( I am a starting dj). But they are very travel friendly too, and that isn't very common in most headphones..
