Anchorage - This is probably the most popular city in Alaska and for good reason. You'll find plenty of quality restaurants and places to stay as well as many activities for the whole family. It's conveniently located near many parks and outdoor activities and is the perfect base if you plan on enjoying the wilderness by day but prefer your creature comforts at night.

Central Kenai Peninsula - Located just a day's drive from Anchorage, this is truly an outdoor paradise. You'll find everything from nature hikes to kayaking and incredible fishing that is beyond compare.

Homer and Kachemak Bay - If fishing is your cup of tea, then you need to make time to visit this area. It is best known for halibut that reach truly monstrous proportions and the marine life is simply unmatched. Talkeetna - Even if you can't pronounce it, you still need to stop by Talkeetna where you'll experience a true outdoor adventure. Denali National Park - Considered the "crown jewel" of Alaska and for good reason.
