A Gathering Place for Albrecht Durer Information

This lens will gather information on Albrecht Durer for use in picture study for students and adults alike.

Although most people will not name Albrecht Durer as a great painter of the Renaissance, he is just as important as Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci, and Michelangelo.

Albrecht Durer is known for making some of the world's greatest images, creating them in the form of prints.

Born in 1471 in Nuremburg, Germany,he became a skilled artist at an early age.

All images on this lens are from Wikimedia Commons and in the public domain.

Slideshow of his artwork

This slideshow not only shows his artwork, but it also gives a brief biographical sketch of this important artist. As always, please preview any YouTube video for appropriateness for your family. This slideshow shows three images with nudity...done tastefully and showing the style of Albrecht Durer's time period. I would consider this video appropriate for middle school age children and above.

Definitely on the list of artists to be studied. I love the huge portraits here. Well done, Barb.

We saw his woodcuts in person at our local museum last year and I had the children do an art activity that I blogged about here: http://thetiethatbindsus.blogspot.com/search?q=albrecht

We just got out his book today and compared Rembrandt's etchings with Durers, from a book we bought at the museum. Both were talented artists in their own right.
