The Alchemists Lab

Did You Know?

The Alchemists were right. Alchemy is famous for its medieval 'puffer's and blowers' who spent their life in the laboratory trying to transmute base metals like lead into gold. Most people today would tell you that their ideas were absolute rubbish, but modern science tells us that in actual fact it really is possible to transmute base metals into gold.

All heavy metallic elements are made out of lighter elements through nuclear fusion in stars. At the beginning of the universe there was only hydrogen and helium - all other elements are made, each one from the last, within these giant nuclear reactors. The only reason we don't have modern alchemist's labs all over the place making gold is because the immense energies you would need for the process make it technically difficult and economically unviable. It's simply cheaper, safer and easier to dig the stuff up out of the ground.

Many people today are suggesting that much of the underlying philosophy of alchemy is closer to the truth than it has been given credit for.

A Picture Paints a Thousand Words: Medieval books on alchemy often consisted entirely of symbolic artwork and allegorical poetry

Inner Alchemy

"Within the framework of mysticism alchemy is above all the alchemy of prayer. By the word prayer is to be understood not so much an individual petiton, but rather the inward - and sometimes outward - pronouncing of a formula or name directed to God and evoking God, thus especially the so-called 'ejaculatory prayer'....
'The basic law of this kind of inward alchemy is to be found in the Christian formula of Ave Maria, the 'angelical salvation'. Maria corresponds both to the materia prima and to the soul in its state of pure receptivity, whereas the words of the angel are like a prolongation of the divine fiat lux. The 'fruit of the Virgin's womb' corresponds to the miraculous elixir, the philosophers' stone, which is the goal of inward alchemy" - Alchemy - Science of the Cosmos, Science of the Soul, Titus Burckhardt
