You may not recognize his name, but you'll certainly recognize his art.
There are names that are better known than Calder's, but how many artists can lay claim to actually inventing their own type of art? Calder can - he is credited as the inventor of the Mobile.
As a fan of Calder's work, my disappointment in creating this webpage is that a two-dimensional computer screen can't really demonstrate the beauty of a three-dimensional, moving piece of art. See his work in person if you can.

- Calder's mobiles are fantastic! I once saw a photo of his studio, with dozens of them hung from the ceiling... like a flock of birds.

- I've not seen any of Alexander Calder's mobiles, in person, but have seen photos. I've seen one of his stationary sculptures. Great information - featured lens in my Seattle Olympic Sculpture Park lens.
