ALF IS NOT FROM MELMAC

Ranked #8,445 in Entertainment, #104,224 overall

America's Favorite Furry Alien From the Sitcom ALF

Hold the phone, America! The wool has been pulled over your eyes. ALF, a.k.a. Gordon Shumway, who allegedly crash landed on Earth in 1986, was a hoax. His home planet, Melmac, is a complete fabrication out of a science fiction novel. A man in a costume played the character of ALF and this man had no intention of ever eating a cat.

The premise of this show was ALF crash landed in the Tanners' (parents Willie and Kate, siblings Lynn and Brian, and cat Lucky) garage. The Tanners agree to hide ALF in their suburban home because if the Alien Task Force caught Alf they would perform experiments on him. The hilarity ensued as the Tanners adapted to life with ALF, a wise-cracking, refrigerator-robbing couch potato, and their struggle to keep ALF a secret from their nosy neighbors, the Ochmoneks. And now we find out that there was nothing ever to worry about. ALF was not a furry alien, he was a costumed character and his real name is Eugene Flutesnoot. America was lied to, and for what, to boost television ratings. No one would have watched ALF if they knew he wasn't a real alien. Please join my guestbook below to ban television from your lives, before you are lied to again.

Eugene Flutesnoot

The man who played the costumed character ALF, was Eugene Flutesnoot, of Duluth, Minnesota. His meteoric rise to fame began in 1984 as an extra in Meatballs 2. From there he was cast as an extra in classroom settings for such hit TV shows as Silver Spoons, Punky Brewster, and Family Ties. He never uttered one line of dialogue. He did however raise his hand for the teacher on multiple occasions and whisper to other students before the bell rang.

In 1986, he was cast as ALF, and sadly his face was never shown. He left the business shortly after ALF was cancelled to focus on his rap album that tanked miserably, entiled "Me Rappin'! Ha!" He now lives with his mother and earns a paltry living submitting stories to Archie Digest.

ALF on DVD

ALF was created by Paul Fusco and aired on the NBC network from 1986 to 1990. The series spanned four seasons and 102 episodes. In the season 4 finale, ALF was to be reunited with other survivors from Melmac, most notably his girlfriend Rhonda, but was captured by the Alien Task Force, a division of the army. "To Be Continued" was shown at the end of the episode, but sadly, the series was cancelled before ALF's fate could be resolved. Not until 1996 was ALF's outcome decided in the TV movie Project ALF.
