Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Veloce

The 1954 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint began a new phase for Alfa Romeo. It was inspired by the world renowned racing tradition Alfa was known for and ushered in the first mass produced Alfa Romeo. The Giulietta evolved through many body-styles including the Spider, Sprint, TI, and Veloce.

The Italian design firm Carozzeria Pininfarina was charged with designing a new prototype for 1955. Their masterful creation was the Giulietta Spider Prototype, first introduced to the public at the 1956 Turin Motor Show ready and rarin' to go for production that year.

In 1956, the Veloce was introduced. This version was super sporty, with its dual-cam 1300 cc alloy engine. Using dual Weber DC03 carburetors capable of producing 90 horsepower - a true racer for its time. The gas tank was enlarged to better prepare it for endurance racing while the larger front brakes provided excellent stopping power. By using Plexiglas rear and side windows and aluminum alloy doors, hood, and trunk lid the vehicle was able to shed weight, greatly improving performance. The Veloce modifications were available on the Spider and the Sprint.

Fewer than 2,800 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Veloce's were produced making this classic a rare find. The Giulietta Spider Veloce lovingly featured on this page was produced in 1959.
