Bring Him Home is the new album from Alfie Boe, featuring the title song Bring Him Home from Les Misérables, alongside classics such as Some Enchanted Evening (South Pacific) and On The Street Where You Live (My Fair Lady), plus Come What May (Moulin Rouge) and many more favorites.

The album includes duets with musical theater star Kerry Ellis (most recently Nancy in Oliver! and Elphaba in Wicked in London's West End) and comic actor Matt Lucas (Little Britain, Come Fly With Me).

I own this album myself and can't recommend it highly enough. Alfie Boe's voice lends itself perfectly to the different moods of the songs and each track has earned its place in this album, though the title track is as always the showstopper.

Boe and Valjean

Who am I? I'm Jean Valjean!

Jean Valjean is the main character of Victor Hugo's classic novel Les Misérables. Valjean is a convict who ends up in a chain gang having been caught thieving food to feed a starving family. A powerful and strong-willed man, he does not give in to the discipline of prison life and so finds his sentence extended by many years each time he tries to escape. On finally leaving prison he breaks his parole to start a new life, in which he rises to the status of mayor of a small French town. However, his former prison guard and nemesis Inspector Javert is never far behind him.

Les Misérables first came to the London stage 25 years ago and now has been performed in cities all around the world, as well as continuing its incredible 25 year run in London's West End.

Irish singer Colm Wilkinson was the first Jean Valjean. In 2011, Alfie Boe will take on the role in London for approximately 6 months (source: www.alfieboeuk.com).

A cast of stars give the performance of a lifetime in this 25th Anniversary Concert of Les Misérables at the O2 stadium in London. Alfie Boe's performance as Valjean is simply spectacular, Ramin Karimloo and Norm Lewis bring power and intensity to the roles of Enjolras and Javert, and Lea Salonga brings a raw, more human aspect to Fantine than I've seen before. Matt Lucas and Jenny Galloway are wickedly funny as the Thenadiers.

Les Misérables was always good, but this is it at its very best. A few stars from the original cast, including Colm Wilkinson and Michael Ball, perform One Day More at the end of the show, followed by the breath-taking rendition of Bring Him Home by four of the greatest Valjeans: Alfie Boe, Simon Bowman, John Owen-Jones, and of course Wilkinson.

I am embarrased to say that I had never heard of him! My mother in law came down from Cheshire recently to see him in Les Miserables, although she had already seen the show twice. That said, she had not known that he was palying the leading role and when he came on he was so bearded and padded she did not even realise it was him at first!

PBS was airing the 25th concert of Les Mis. I initially tuned in because it is one of my favorite musicals. But from the moment he opened his mouth to sing, I was captivated. His rendition of Bring Him Home stunned me with his vocal range. I have become am Alfie Boe fan and I always will be. It is ok that he does not like going to the opera. Neither do I. But I enjoy his opera DVDs.

I know just what you mean, Pam. That incredible voice... and a true stage presence too. How lucky for us that someone suggested he try for a singing career rather than stay as a car mechanic.
