About Alfie

They say dogs are man's best friend, but I have to disagree. I've had my cat, Alfie, since fall of 2000. The Edgecombe-Nash Humane Society in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, had him up for adoption at a local Pet Smart store. He was 11 weeks old at the time. When we took him out of his cage, he wrapped his paws around our necks and was quiet and sweet. We brought him home that night to our family of two other black and white cats and a black and white Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He rarely has difficulty making friends with humans, cats, or dogs.

Alfie has traveled with us from North Carolina to Maine, and has lived in about eight different houses within these last eleven years. He currently resides in a loving home with other cats and a dog. I miss him a lot!

I Love My Cat

... because life would just be way too quiet without him.

Dad says that Alfie is the most entertaining cat he's ever seen, even if he is a nuisance. Alfie is my baby and a spoiled brat. He likes to talk at you and get in your face to get your attention. He sometimes gives me "hugs," where he will put his front paws on either side of my neck. He also gives me kitty kisses by rubbing his face against mine.

When the Fur Flies

... because shed happens.

You would think that a short haired cat wouldn't shed as much as a long haired cat. That is simply not true, as evidenced by the collection of fur in my keyboard, across my desk, on my clothing, decorating my bed... it's everywhere! Most pets benefit from some basic grooming, and it's easy to find just a few minutes each day to do it. Cats like to make time -- if they're in your lap, grab the nearest brush or nail clippers and take advantage of the moment.

A Silly YouTube Video You Might Like

... because many cat owners can relate.

This reminds me a lot of how Alfie wakes me up in the morning, minus the violence. :) He will meow, walk all over me, rub against my face, and paw at my face. Usually all this results in me pulling the covers up over my head and trying to sleep for five more minutes.
