Alabama Gulf Coast

Ranked #24,132 in Travel & Places, #554,646 overall

Well known by a few, little known by most.

You wouldn't know it from looking at all of the out of state license plates but most people don't know that Alabama has beaches, more less that it has beautiful beaches.  Those that know about it have known and come for years. They come from all over the Southern states, the mid west and beyond. It is almost like it is their little secret.

The perfect mix of water and land. Beautiful beaches and water everywhere. Perfect for sun worshippers, fishermen, boating enthusiast, good eating, having fun and just relaxing. The area runs from the Mississippi State Line just west of Mobile, Alabama to the Florida State Line just west of Pensacola, Florida. 32 miles of pure white sandy beaches and beautiful inland waterways.

A large fleet of charter boats operate out of the area for both gulf fishing and inland fishing. If you are not into fishing there are dolphin cruises, parrasails, several amusement parks, a zoo, histoic old Fort Morgan, nature trails and miles of bike trails.

Orange beach, Gulf Shores and Fort Morgan are on an island, being separated from the mainland by the intercoastal waterway and the natural bays.

More than just beaches.

Besides the beautiful beaches several rivers empty into the many bays and then on to the Gulf of Mexico. This truly makes the area a boaters dream.

You can't find fresher seafood than you will get on the Alabama Gulf Coast. Many commercial fishing and shrimp boats have their home ports here. The area restaurants have access to the fresh catches right off of the boats.
