A Darker Look at Alice in Wonderland by Tim Burton
Award Winning Director Tim Burton is known for his dark, gothic and eccentric films. His early films with Edward Scissorhands and the Corpse Bride, Beetlejuice, Sleepy Hollow and Ed Wood to his later films the Nightmare Before Christmas, Big Fish and his view of a darker Willy Wonka with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Perhaps the one of most macabre was the recent award winning musical Sweeney Todd.
In 1985 Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers came up with their own interesting interpretation of Alice in Wonderland with their 1985 song, "Don't Come Around Here No More." I have a feeling Tim Burton's Alice will be even more intriguing.
It will be interesting to see what twists and turns happen when Alice enters Burtonland.

The Latest Alice in Wonderland Trailer
Alice in Wonderland (2010 film) on Wikipedia
Alice in Wonderland is an upcoming 2010 fantasy adventure film directed by Tim Burton. It is an extension to the Lewis Carroll novels Alices Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. The film will use a technique combining live action and motion capture technology. Mia Wasikowska plays the role of Alice, alongside Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen, Anne Hathaway as The White Queen, and Crispin Glover as The Knave of Hearts.
The film is due for release on March 5, 2010 and the film will be released in Disney Digital 3-D and IMAX 3-D, as well as in regular theatres.

More Thoughts on Tim Burton Films
Burton's films seem to focus on those who are on the outside of society, perhaps a bit on the dark side. These themes were brought to his films Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride (which my daughter's have also enjoyed) to his interpretation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (which we all enjoyed). I am still waiting for a couple of quiet hours when the girls are out of the house to watch Sweeney Todd.
