al-Jazeera Airways first announced in 2004, purchased its first two airplanes, Airbus A320s, in late 2005, scheduled to start servicing a number of cities, including Beirut, Damascus, Alexandria, Amman, Luxor, Bahrain, Sharjah, Dubai, as well as Kuwait City, in 2006. It's unique in being the only privately funded regular airline in the Middle East. Marwan Boodai, of the Boodai Group, is the CEO of al-Jazeera Airways.
