My introduction to Alkaline Trio
Doey, my 2nd eldest daughter, is a music fiend. She has probably the single largest personal collection of music I have ever come across. And she also has by far the most varied taste in music I have ever known.
In days gone by I would often be seen going through her computer listening to new music she had bought or been given, and she would religiously copy everything to the computer, in chronological and alphabetical order. This is how I became familiar with music other than that I would ordinarily listen to, the Westlife, Queen, Pink Floyd, Garth Brooks and so the list goes on.
Alkaline Trio? I had never even heard of them much less recognized any of their music. Actually I thought the name sounded a little like a rechargeable battery - or three of them.
I was blown away! Easy listening, catchy tunes, brilliant lyrics. Alkaline Trio soon became a firm favorite, alongside such greats as Staind, Blue october, Augustana (and many others) from those bands of musicians I discovered inside my daughter's computer folders.
While certainly not everyone's cup of tea, I don't doubt that a lot of the music you'll find pleasing to the ear. Go on, take a listen!

Alkaline Trio was formed in December 1996. All members of the band came from McHenry, Illinois, in Chicago's Northwest suburbs and it (the band) is part of a very large circle of Chicago punk/hardcore bands. Skiba played drums for Jerkwater (with Rob Doran, currently in Pit er Pat); and Sean Seeling (currently in Apocalypse Hoboken, ex-Tommyrot).Former band members include Rob Doran - bass, backing vocals (1996-1997), Glenn Porter - drums, percussion (1996-2000) and Mike Felumlee - drums, percussion (2000-2001), with the current band members being Matt Skiba - lead vocals, guitars (1996-present), Dan Andriano - lead vocals, bass (1997-present), Derek Grant - drums, percussion, backing vocals (2001-present).
