Think you know everything there is to know about noses?

Through this lens I'd like to introduce you to a web site called All-About-Noses.com. Our goal is to be a resource that features any and everything possibly related to the nose. We'll have some noses you've never even thought about. Kinda fun, kinda serious.

Check out our online store at CafePress/All_About_Noses for nose-related items that feature our original paintings and photography ... on mugs, T-shirts, cards, calendars, and more.

Nose Survey

I've just finished reading an article that says when looking at your face your nose is the first thing that people notice. Do you think that's true? What do you notice first when looking at a face?

Our Focus Is On The Nose - From Nose Quotes to Aviation Noses!

We have lots of quotes related to the nose. Also, anecdotes, nose news, and articles on various nose woes. You can even find lodging destinations to 'rest your nose'. Our 'Join Your Noses' page has resources for the most important day of your life, your wedding day. We'll suggest some beautiful places to get married in Tennessee.

We have begun a Photo Gallery. It features aviation nose art, aviation noses, automobile noses, animal noses, and human noses. We have some adorable cat and dog noses. We'd like to have some of your photos also. If you send photographs to us, please e-mail them to photos at all-about-noses dot com (e-mail address intentionally typed out to prevent spam abuse).

We'll be looking forward to receiving them!

We hope you'll click over to All-About-Noses.com and be amused, entertained, and possibly learn something new about the nose.

Eucalyptus And The Nose

Eucalyptus has a clean and revitalizing fragrance that has been used for over 150 years for promoting clear chests and noses. Eucalyptus also has natural antibacterial action and has been used in Australian aboriginal medicine for centuries.

Ever Heard Of A Nose Cake?

We have an article on All-About-Noses.com about a Nose Cake baked by one very creative mom. It's cleverly written and I'll bet her children had such fun helping in the kitchen! Click on Nose Anecdotes on the Home page and you'll find it near the top of the nose anecdote page.

Do You Think He's Really Reading?

I think this photo of my grandson's puggle is so cute, don't you? He appears to be reading. We have animal, dog, cat, and human noses in our Photo Gallery at the All-About-Noses.com web site.

By the way, a puggle is a cross between a pug and a beagle. My grandson says his puggle, whose name is Sukie, snores.

The Internet-Grandma Blog

Thought you might like to check out my blog at:
Internet-Grandma.blogspot.com.
The photo to the right has nothing to do with the blog. I just found it tonight while searching for something else. How do you think this dog ever sees anything? Don't you just love it?

Since I am an aspiring oil painter, I have been showing some of my paintings on the blog. How about checking them out!

Scent Controls Worker Bees

Did you know that queen bees control their worker bees by scent? They secrete a substance similar to dopamine in humans that keeps the young worker bees close to home. You can read more of this new research online at Sciencemag.org.

More and more, our human nostrils are being targeted by retailers - from "scratch and sniff" ads, to fragrance samples in magazines, scent can touch us emotionally and make us spend those big bucks before we leave the mall.

Is worker control by scent a possibility for humans? Or is that too far out? What do you think? This is your chance to voice your opinion by sending us an email.

Did you know that problems with smell are common in older people?

Thirty percent of older Americans between the ages of 70 and 80 have a problem with their sense of smell. Two out of three people over 80 have a problem with their sense of smell.

Problems with smell can have a big impact on the lives of older people. Our sense of smell lets us fully enjoy the scents and fragrances in the environment, like roses, coffee, and rain.

Smell is also important to our appreciation of food;
without smell we would not be able to fully enjoy the
flavors of food and beverages. But, even more important, smell can be a warning signal that something is wrong in our environment. Smell helps us to know when food is spoiled or if there is a gas leak.

The sense of smell is part of our chemical sensing system or the "chemosenses". The olfactory cells are located in a small patch of tissue high inside the nose.

Odors release microscopic molecules into the environment and stimulate these small nerve cells. Once the cells detect the molecules, they send messages to our brain, where we identify smell.

For most people a problem with smell is a minor irritation, but for others it may be a sign of more serious diseases and conditions.

When people have a problem with smell, they may
experience total or partial loss of smell. They can sometimes think they smell bad odors that are not actually present. People with smell disorders usually have problems appreciating food flavors, too.

Military Aircraft Nose Art

Nose art is a decorative painting or design on the fuselage of a military aircraft, usually located near the nose, and is a form of aircraft graffiti. While begun for practical reasons of identifying friendly units, the practice evolved to express the individuality often constrained by the uniformity of the military, to evoke memories of home and peacetime life, and as a kind of psychological protection against the stresses of war and the probability of death. The appeal, in part, came from ...
