Reflexology!

Reflexology is becoming more and more popular these days.

I remember when I first heard about reflexology, more than 19 years ago, practically no one else had!

Reflexology back then was known only by people who were into alternative medicine and some progressives.

When I opened my alternative therapies clinic in Kuwait in 1994 practically no one in Kuwait had ever heard of it.

A few well-traveled people had tried it outside of Kuwait, and that was it!

Nowadays there are hundreds of places that offer reflexology in Kuwait!

It has become super popular!

What Is Reflexology?

Reflexology Body ChartSo, what is reflexology anyway?

Reflexology is a "science" based on reflex points.

It is based on the concept that the body is divided into two halves, and several meridians.

According to the science of reflexology, there are points on the hands and feet (and all over the body) that coincide with different parts of the body and organs.

Indeed, every single cell of the body is represented on the hands and the feet (and around the body) by reflex points.

Through the distant points (on the hands, feet, etc.), using various types of manipulation, a re-energizing of the organs, parts of the body, nerves and cells can take place.

To get a better idea of how reflexology works, think of electric lights.

When you want to turn on the light you press a switch on the wall, for example, and the light turns on.

We don't turn on the light by touching the light bulb itself.... but my flipping a switch at a distant location.

Reflexology works in a similar way.

This Is The Book That Started It All For Me!

I got started with my now more than 19 year reflexology career with this book.

It is simple, concise, and easy to understand.

I still love this book!

This got me started in my business and kept me going for years until I actually got officially qualified in reflexology many years later!

This book was lovingly given to me by a friend from New Zealand by the name of Madinah, and I will be forever grateful to her for that fantastic gift!

The History Of Reflexology

Ancient Egyptian Art of ReflexologyReflexology (although, obviously it hasn't always been called that) has been around basically since the beginning of human existence.

There is documented proof of the fact that even ancient peoples from thousands of years ago used to do treatments or a kind of massage or pressure points on the feet (and hands).

In fact, it is said that peoples from practically every culture around the world have had some form of reflexology throughout the ages, and some still practice it today (like in Hawaii, for example).

But, the modern history of foot and hand reflexology started with a man who went by the name of Dr. William H. Fitzgerald, and another doctor Shelby Riley, M.D, who both started to research and write about zone therapy and similar points of interest.

A lady called Eunice D. Ingham , who worked with Dr. Riley, took the information and went many steps further, developing what is considered "modern day reflexology".

Since then, over the years, institutes, governments and people have both fought and promoted reflexology with the result of reflexology prevailing. (Which I, for one, am very, very happy about)....
