Hi Heidi S - Congrats! You are going to love being a twins mom. I can tell that you definitely have the right attitude going into it. It is a lot of work, but it's a lot of fun too. Welcome to the multiples club. My twins are my first too - talk about a learning experience, but trust me you'll find your way through parenting. [in reply to Heidi S]

Thanks for the info on Twins! We are expecting our first in May and have been going crazy trying to plan and prepare...being first-time parents is scary enough but to add twins on top is incredible! But we are very excited and can't wait for them to arrive.

Congrats on your twins! And, thanks for stopping by. To answer your question, I believe that it's up to the parents to decide if they want to find out if their twins are identical or not, but it's probably best to discuss it with your pediatrician as there may be medical reasons for knowing if they share DNA or not. I was just talking with someone who is an identical twin and she said that she and her twin actually look quite different so I suppose you can't really tell just by looking, you need the DNA test. Have fun with those boys!

We have 6 mo twin boys. We were told they were Mono-Di throughout the pregnancy and had the placenta sent to the lab to verify. The report shows that it was one sac but then when the OB called, she was told it was two sacs. So we are still unsure. They do look alike and we can't tell them apart when they are sleeping. But when they are awake, there is a slight difference that we can see... most times. Do we really need to know if they are identical?
