My Journey to...

All the Spanish Verbs

All the Spanish Verbs, Photo: danIf you have read my other lenses, you will know "más o menos" (more or less) that I moved to Spain with my family, from the British countryside.

My family and I had travelled to Spain many times over the years. I never thought we would end up living there!

I still live in Spain, (I think I'll be permanent here for some time) and I keep learning new Spanish verbs everyday.

So moving from the UK to Spain had its pro's and con's. The main 'con' at the time, was that none of us spoke a word of Spanish.
Except for:
"Hola" - Hello
"La cuenta porfavor" - The bill please
"Adios" - Goodbye.

This was our level of Spanish.
My brother, sister and I started in school with a lot of Spanish children. That's when we began progressing in Spanish! This was when the 'pros' began.

The best way for me to learn Spanish fluently was by practising all the Spanish verbs.

The first thoughts of learning all the verbs made me extremely nervous...!
It sure was hard work, but it all paid off. Also in Spanish they tend to use around 200 verbs in general conversation. So with only 200 stored in my memory, I began understanding what everyone was talking about!

Learning all the Spanish verbs also gave me the opportunity to express myself properly. This can be the hardest part learning a new language, expressing yourself. But once you learn and practice all the Spanish verbs, you will enchant the Spanish with your capabilities.

So this was my journey to all the Spanish verbs.

Joining or Conjugating Verbs

All the Spanish Verbs, Photo: Carlos PortoA verb is a word usually used to indicate action.

So here is an example for you:
I like to eat apples and pears.
In this sentence "to eat" is the main verb.

("I like" also comes from a verb but it is called a reflexive verb as it reflects on you) Don't worry about this yet!

Me gusta comer manzanas y peras
"Comer" - "to eat"
The action in this sentence is the eating!

When you learn how to join all the verbs, you can speak, write or hear about anything you wish. You will understand if it happened yesterday, that it will happen today or in the future.

You may think, "What, I have to learn all the Spanish verbs?"

Well the answer to this question is, no, you do not need to learn all of them. But to have a good level of Spanish, you need to learn and memorize the majority of them.

You can take your time learning, as you study at home all the Spanish verbs. In reality there are no time restrictions on how much you have to learn in a certain amount of time!
However, setting yourself goals is a good idea, to make sure you keep learning and do not forget what you want to achieve.
