All you need is love: Children in Need 2009
All You need Is Love, originally composed by John Lennon but credited to Lennon and McCartney, has been released in a reworked version by Bandaged Together in order to raise money for BBC Children in Need.
Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, where The Beatles recorded much of their original work, the single is taken from an album that includes Bill Wyman, Brian May, Bryan Ferry, Sharon Corr, Nick Mason, Paloma Faith, Lee Mead, Hayley Westenra, Sir Terry Wogan and Aled Jones.

The first satellite broadcast on TV
All You Need Is Love was first performed by The Beatles on Our World, which was the first ever live global television link. Broadcast via satellite on June 25 1967, it was beamed to 26 countries and watched by 400 million people.
Although the segment featuring The Beatles performing All You Need Is Love is the most famous, the programme also featured the opera singer Maria Callas and the artist Pablo Picasso.
The BBC commissioned The Beatles to write a song for the UK's contribution.

Rolling Stone magazine ranked The Beatles All You Need is Love at #362 in their 500 greatest songs of all time
It was the last song both recorded and released by The Beatles before the death of their Manager, Brian Epstein, on 27 August 1967, which was just over a month after the song was released.
Released in the UK on July 7 1967, All You Need is Love went straight to No. 1 in the UK Charts and remained there for three weeks.
All You Need is love was recorded at the Olympic Studios in Barnes, London not Abbey Road.

On Thursday 12 November a concert organised by Gary Barlow to raise funds for BBC Children in Need, was held at The Royal Albert Hall in London.
Gary Barlow, singer with Take That, said in The Daily Mirror:
