All About Britney Spears

Britney Spears was not only born to sing...she was born to dance as well. She did extremely well in gymnastics classes and competed in some state competitions in that category. Lynn Spears felt passionately about her daughter's talent, and became determined that Britney be given every opportunity to become a star. They didn't have a lot of money always, but Lynn did everything she could to encourage her daughters dream of fame.

Britney auditioned for the "New Mickey Mouse Club" in 1990. She didn't get the job at that time due to her age, (8) but she impressed the producers so much that one of them got her in touch with an agent. She was able to spend time in 1991 training at the Professional Performing Arts School and at the Off-Broadway Dance Center, moving briefly to New York City with her mother. Britney immediately fell in love with the bright lights of the big city...so much different from the quiet country life she knew in Kentwood, Louisiana.

She spent this time honing her craft, practicing her dance moves and learning new skills for performing in front of an audience. Her nervous energy finally had an outlet, and she thrived in the theatrical environment. It was at this time that she actually began her professional career, as she was doing television commercials and training in off Broadway productions such as "Ruthless!" In 1992, she was a contestant in the televised talent competition, Star Search. She didn't win, but many heard the amazing voice she had for the first time, and were blown away.

Britney Spears was now poised to become a professional performer. Shortly after her stint on Star Search, she turned 11. She was now finally old enough to audition again for "The New Mickey Mouse Club". She was given a spot and was a regular on the show for the 1993-1994 seasons, along with other famous MM alumni Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, and Christina Aguilera. Britney was enjoying the experience and shone in her performances. However, all good things must come to an end, and in 1994, The Disney channel cancelled the "New Mickey Mouse Club".

When it was over she went back home to attend school in nearby McComb Mississippi for the next year. She continued to pursue her singing and dancing and joined an all girl band called Innosense in 1997. It was around this time that she had an opportunity to record a demo for Jive Records on her own. She was signed on and began doing mall concerts around the country, getting her name and face out there. Bands such as NSYNC were having her as their opening act.

All Britney needed were two things...an image and a hit single. Her voice was primed and ready to go to add just the right mix of innocence and edginess to the song that would soon take the pop world by storm...."Baby, One More Time". The video combined Britney's sweet, sultry voice with suggestive, cheerleader type dance moves. It's release in October of 1998 started Britney on the road to fame. While it appeared she was an overnight success, this was actually the culmination of hard work and determination from Britney and her mother Lynn. The album of the same name was released soon after,peaking at the number one spot in January of 1999.

Britney Spears was poised for stardom. She began a relationship Justin Timberlake, who she had met when they were on "The New Mickey Mouse Club". Her next album, "Ooops I Did It Again" sold over a million copies in the first week. Her energetic performances and eye-popping costumes enthralled her admirers. The third album, "Britney" which she had written songs for, came out in 2001. An injury on the "Dream Within A Dream" tour forced her to take a short career break. Her relationship with Justin ended, and she was cast in the movie "Crossroads" in 2002. Her fans loved it...the critics did not.

Britney's behavior got even stranger as time passed. Her marriages, first a 55 hour one to a family friend. and second to one of her dancers, Kevin Federline, made her fodder for the tabloids. She had already worked on changing her good-girl image by engaging in a lip lock with Madonna at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. Her second marriage produced two sons, Sean Preston, born in September of 2005 and Jayden James born a year later in September of 2006. Rumors of Kevin's partying and Britney's irresponsible mothering took it's toll, and in November of 2006, Britney filed for divorce from Kevin Federline.

Her fourth album "In The Zone" which had been released in 2003 produced one Grammy winning hit single..."Toxic", for Best Dance Recording. After that, nothing new...only compilations. She began checking into rehab for short stints, checking out days later. One notable stunt was when she shaved her head and took an umbrella to a paparazzi car. Her actions prompted Kevin to sue for and gain custody of their two sons. In 2008, she refused to give the children back after a visit, and was hospitalized. When she was released, her father Jamie, who had cleaned up his act, became her guardian. She has been building her career back up, releasing "Blackout" and "Circus", and she is able to see her children.

Since her divorce and subsequent antics, Britney Spears has had a long road coming back. She will always be the subject of gossip outlets, and many things are reported as true when they are far from it One of the most shocking was recently when her Twitter page was hacked into reporting that she was dead. Of course she immediately got on to ease the minds of the fans who must have been starting to panic!

Another recent rumor was that she hired a male model under false pretenses. The model said that when he arrived, Britney attempted to seduce him...of course this has been denied by the star's publicists. It wasn't true, but that doesn't stop rumors from being reported as fact. Much ado has always been made about her appearance....she is looking well these days, but many still remember the tired looking, distracted Britney at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards. She is working hard to put those days behind her, and has been doing well in that.

Britney has been having an on again off-again relationship with her agent, Jason Trawik since earlier this year. While there are always rumors of a breakup, recent rumors of such have not been confirmed. However, Britney is learning to cope with the media attention, and let most of these reports roll off her back. She is far too busy, finishing up her "Circus" concert tour, and making plans for yet another studio album. Once again, she is back on Forbe's list of popular celebrities, and it looks like the fans are more than willing to give this talented star another chance....."One More Time".
