Alleged Catholic School Violates the Basics of Catholicism

"Thou shalt not have strange gods before me." Exodus 20:3
Maybe they took their cue from the former pontiff, John Paul II, when he received a Hindu blessing while visiting India.
In any case, Marymount School of New York City has decided to officially celebrate the Hindu holy day of Diwali.
Predictably, the school's website posted a false ecumenism-friendly fluff piece;
"Diwali, one of India's national holidays, is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, and Jains, as well as people of other faith traditions, in recognition of good defeating evil: in the Hindu faith, the five-day festival marks the return of Lord Rahma to his kingdom Ayodhya after defeating the evil Ravana, and also Lord Krishna's defeat of the demon king Narakasura."
But unfortunately for Marymount, Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, was quoted as stating exactly what Diwali really is;
"Hindus worship goddess of good fortune and beauty Lakshmi, god of wisdom and auspiciousness Ganesh, and mountain Goverdhan on this day. Also on this day, coronation of Lord Ram was held, Lord Hanuman was born, Lord Vishnu returned kingdom to monkey king Bali of Kiskindha, Lord Vishnu and goddess Lakshmi married, Lord Krishan killed demon Narakasur, and ancient king Vikramaditya was crowned. On this day of forgiveness, festivities, and friendliness; families and friends get together for worship followed by a sumptuous and elaborate feast."

"He that is not with me, is against me: and he that gathereth not with me, scattereth." Mt 12:30 Douay-Rheims Bible

Pictured above is Fr. Saju George, also known as "The Dancing Jesuit". Wow... he's a Jesuit. Not exactly a big shocker.
As Padre Saju says, "God may be Shiva or Krishna or one of the gods of the Hindu tradition, but the underlying spirituality is lifting one's soul toward God... "
Sorry "Father". God Almighty isn't Shiva or Krishna. You might want to read your copy of The Holy Bible, if you even have one.
