2. Some Websites to take a look at:
- Is there a designer that doesn't yearn to work with a great photographer? Is there a soccer loving designer that doesn't yearn to work with a great photographer who has shot at the last two World Cups and European Championships?
Site: www.dalemacmillan.com - www.dishcatering.ca
- Not every client has the gumption to strike out and be different. But Erin Clatney of DISH Catering certainly isn't like everyone else. So when she was pitched an idea about her new site that largely had nothing to do with her incredible menu, well, she bit and the result is this fun and unique site.
Site: www.dishcatering.ca - www.athletesforafrica.com
- Athletes for Africa is a charitable organization that uses the power of sport to educate and engage Canadians in Africa's fight against poverty, famine and disease-he wanted a website that didn't feature the expected imagery of starving children. The creative brief was simple: no images of starvation and tragedy. The result: a site that focuses on the athletes themselves as being agents to raise awareness.

3. A few Flash animations to watch:
- Lend A Hand
- Sometimes the most effective animations and motion graphics need only the right images, sound track, and, of course, the right designer. The opening intro to this website was done for Lend A Hand, a charitable project in Toronto.
View animation - Chelsea FC
- I support Manchester United, so there's not a chance on this green earth that I would ever do work for this small, middling London club. But I certainly would do work for McMillan, a top agency in Ottawa who produced this animation for one of their clients.
View animation - U2
- This animation features a rock and roll band from Ireland you may have heard of: U2. This animation featured as a download in the Spanish version of Microsoft Messenger. Again, many thanks to McMillan for throwing this work my way.

4. Some logos to check out:
- Guerilla
- Allen was invited to develop the identity of Guerilla, an Ottawa arts and culture magazine that strives to take a look at the local scene from the 'ground level.' And what was the result? A smooth and elegant word mark that drops below the baseline--or in this case--the ground level!
View logo - GuluWalk
- Sometimes a logo can be too stylized, too sleek. With GuluWalk, which is a movement seeking to raise awareness of the plight of children in war torn northern Uganda, I certainly did not want the polished. I strove to create a mark that embodied the foundation of this grassroots movement.
View logo - Bertschi, Orth & Smith
- One normally doesn't associate a law firm with taking risk, but the Ottawa firm of Bertschi, Orth & Smith certainly did when they decided on this unique and powerful logo.
