Five Short Quests to Gain Power Over Poison!

The five quests that make up the Druid Power Over Poison quest chain are aimed at level 14 druids, both Horde and Alliance.

This page is the abbreviated version of the quests for Alliance druids.

For a detailed version complete with screenshots, maps, map coordinates, and secret techniques that make it faster and more fun go to the Alliance Druid Power Over Poison Quest Chain walk through on Azeroth Cookbook. You can also find a detailed walk through of the Horde Druid Power Over Poison quest chain.

The Druid Power Over Poison quest chain has five parts: 1) Lessons Anew, 2) The Principal Source, 3) Gathering the Cure, 4) Curing the Sick, and 5) Power Over Poison.

Step-By-Step to the Cure Poison Spell

Quest 1 - Lessons Anew

Pick up the quest Lessons Anew from Mathrengyl Bearwalker in the Cenarion Enclave in Darnassus.

Set your hearthstone for Darnassus before you leave on the quest. The quest sends you to speak with Dendrite Starblaze in Moonglade.

Teleport there using the "Teleport Moonglade" spell that you received when you did the bear form quest chain; it is permanently in your spell book. You will teleport right in front of Dendrite Starblaze's building. He is inside on the second floor. He will give you the next quest.

NOTE: Because this quest is for all druids, Horde and Alliance, if you are on a PvP server you must watch out for high level members of the opposing faction while you are in the contested territory of Moonglade. Try to stick close to the guards, as they will attack anyone who starts a fight in Moonglade.

Because everybody needs a little help now and then . . .

Quest 2 - The Principal Source

The Principal Source requires you to get a sample of water from the mouth of the cave at the base of the Cliffspring Falls, and then deliver it to Alanndarian Nightsong in Auberdine, Darkshore.

NOTE: This quest can be a little difficult to solo at level 14, so you might consider bringing along a friend of level 14 or higher, or just wait until you are higher level. You will be returning to this general area at level 16 when you do the first part of the third quest in the Sea Lion Form quest chain, so that may be a good time to revisit this one.

Dendrite Starblaze gives you the Cliffspring Falls Sampler vial; drag it onto your toolbar so that it will be easy to use.

Fly to Auberdine. If you don't have the fly point yet, hearth to Darnassus first and then take the free boat ride from Rut'theran Village to Auberdine.

Travel north from Auberdine until you get to the bridge over the Cliffspring River. Cross the bridge to the north side of the river and head east along the river to the cliffs. Watch for bears and nightsabers in this area.

As you get close to the cave you will encounter a Stormscale Wave Rider (naga) on the path. After you fight it bring your mana back up to full to deal with the rest of the mobs at the cave. You have to deal with a level 17 caster (Stormscale Siren) on the opposite bank of the river, as well as naga inside the cave just past the waterfall. As soon as you have filled the vial get out of there! The naga respawn rapidly.

Bring the filled vial to Alanndarian Nightsong in Auberdine. She is inside a building just north of the inn. She will give you the next quest.

Quest 3 - Gathering the Cure

For Gathering the Cure you collect 5 Earthroot and 12 Lunar Funguses and bring them back to Alanndarian Nightsong.

Earthroot:

To collect the earthroot you must have the herbalism profession. Herbalists can find earthroot in the forests in Teldrassil, as well as many other locations.

If you don't have herbalism there are alternatives: you can kill mobs that drop earthroot, or you can buy earthroot from select vendors or on the Auction House.

I recommend buying it from a vendor; your best bet may be the herb, alchemy, or florist vendors. They have a limited supply, but the supply respawns, so check back if the vendor's inventory is low or non-existent when you visit.

If you have a human alt in Stormwind he can visit the vendors or AH and mail your druid the earthroot. Check with Eldraeith, Herbalism Supplies vendor and Maria Lumere, Alchemy Supplies vendor, both inside the Alchemy Needs shop in the Mage Quarter.

Lunar Fungus:

You will find lunar fungus in the Moonkin Caves to the east of Auberdine. There are five moonkin caves fairly close together just east of Auberdine, with several Moonkin hanging about. Your best bet is to draw them and kill them one at a time to reach the cave. There is usually one inside each cave, too.

The lunar fungus looks like a small, spotted mushroom and it should sparkle or glow. You get 1 or 2 lunar funguses for each mushroom you click, and they respawn fairly quickly.

Bring the items you have collected to Alanndarian Nightsong and get the next quest.

Quest 4 - Curing the Sick

Your next quest is to use the Curative Animal Salve (that Alanndarian Nightsong made from the stuff you just collected) on 10 sickly deer in Darkshore, after which you return to Dendrite Starblaze. When Alanndarian Nightsong gives you the 10 doses of Curative Animal Salve, drag the icon onto your tool bar.

Go east into the forest and you will find sickly deer wandering about. You can't miss them; they are bright green with a cloud of green skulls floating around them.

When you have cured all 10 deer use the "Teleport Moonglade" spell and talk to Dendrite Starblaze. He will reward you with the Veildust Medicine Bag. The Veildust Medicine Bag is held in the off-hand and gives +1 Intellect and +1 Spirit, as well as restoring 50 mana every 3 seconds for 15 seconds.

Dendrite Starblaze will also give you the last quest in this chain.

Quest 5 - Power Over Poison

This quest is the easiest. Just hearth back to Darnassus and return to Mathrengyl Bearwalker in the Cenarion Enclave. (Aren't you glad you set your hearthstone for Darnassus?)

Mathrengyl Bearwalker will train you in the Cure Poison spell. This is an instant cast spell good up to a 40 yard range, that cures 1 poison effect on the target.

Congratulations! You have just completed the whole Alliance Druid Power Over Poison Quest Chain.
