What I look For In A Lens
I look for lenses on interesting or unusual subjects. In fact the odder the better. Failing that a fresh look at a fairly common subject can work well. See I told you the criteria weren't strict!
There are however a few things that can get a lens crossed off my list. I'll happily overlook the odd spelling error but if virtually everything on a lens is wrong it looks sloppy and is no fun to to read.
Another thing that gets my goat is coming to the end of a really well done, interesting lens only to see the words 'New Guestbook'. AAAAAH! I'm sorry but it makes me want to throw things!
I'm not saying I will never feature a lens with 'New Guestbook' on it but I'm not short of nominations and will always give preference to a lensmaster who has spent the six seconds it takes to change it.
I love browsing shopping lenses but I find the hard sell one some a bit of a turn off. Making money is great but please a bit of subtlety would be nice.
Oh and please don't be shy about nominating your own lens. I do eventually get round every lens nominated but I'll always make a special effort for self nominations. Why? Well if a lensmaster is proud and enthusiastic enough about their lens to nominate it then that tells me it's worth a look. So come on get nominating!
