Conan the Barbarian 2011 Film

A movie review of what the true riddle of steel is in the 2011 interpretation of the Conan legend, Conan the Barbarian.

The movie is based on Conan the Barbarian by Robert E. Howard. The film clearly exhibits the same gory violence as the books.

Conan the Barbaria stars Jason Momoa, Rachel Nichols, Stephen Lang Rose McGowan, Bob Sapp, and Ron Perlman. You'll also hear a recognizable voice, Morgan Freeman is the narrator.

The cast is talented, there are amazing 3D effects, and the costumes are interesting.

Conan the Barbarian 2011 Movie Review

"The Riddle of Steel"

"I live, I love, I slay, and I am content." says Conan.

Conan the Barbarian begins with Conans' childhood. His father, Corin (Ron Perlman) is the leader of the Cimmerian's.

The Cimmerian's are, as Corin eloquently states, "When a Cimmerian feels thirst, it is a thirst for blood. When he feels cold, it is the cold edge of steel. For the courage of a Cimmerian is tempered: he neither fears death... nor rushes foolishly to meet it. To be a Cimmerian warrior, you must have both cunning and balance as well as speed and strength."
After a turn of events as the result of Khalar Zym (Stephen Lang) and Marique (Rose McGowan) we meet the mature Conan (Jason Momoa). He sets off on a mission to avenge all wrong-doings against his family. Over the course of his adventure he participates in epic battles with his enemies and encounters horrific supernatural monsters. He also has a small romance, making women in the audiences swoon for Momoa. Throughout the entire movie you watch Conan live to be free, love passionately, slay everything in his path, and ultimately end content.

If you love action this is the movie for you. If you don't, I urge you to give it a try. You will be pleasantly surprised. I leave you with this, if you saw the 1982 Conan the Barbarian you would have quickly picked up that Conan's dialogue was a minimum and the movie was full of action. I commend the new Conan the Barbarian for developing characters with a strong dialogue, including suspenseful scenes, and staying true to creating incredible action sequences.

Jason Momoa: Conan 2011

I was first introduced to Jason Momoa when he was on Stargate Atlantis. He played one of my favorite characters, Ronon Dex. He commanded attention every time he was on screen. I was extremely excited when I heard he was cast in HBO's Games of Throne. Once again, he portrayed a powerful individual, the Dothraki King "Khal Drogo". His character dies at the end of the season which left me wanting to see more of Momoa. My cries were heard when Conan the Barbarian his theaters. As the lead character Momoa portrayed Conan with a powerful grace. Momoa has played powerful men therefore, it may come as no surprise that Momoa was a model in his native Hawaii. On a person note, he has two children with his partner Lisa Bonet. Next year (2012) you can look for Momoa in Bullet in the Head (also starring Sylvester Stallone).

Arnold Schwarzenegger: Conan 1982

I first saw Schwarzenegger as young child in The Terminator. Since then, I've watched him star in over 20 films ranging. Iconic roles as Conan (Conan the Barbarian and Conan the Destroyer) and the Terminator (Terminator 1, 2, & 3) shot him to stardom. While Schwarzenegger is a known action star he has also dabbled in a few comedies, Kindergarden Cop and Twins. Prior to acting, Schwarzenegger was a renowned champion in bodybuilding. Most recently, Schwarzenegger was the Governor of California.Schwarzenegger's life has always been a cover page story and most recently the news has covered his divorce from Maria Shriver. Today, Schwarzenegger has returned to acting and can next be seen in The Expendables 2 (2012).
